So stupid. £60m on a player that will decline sooner rather than later.

We've become a club that bankrolls Real Madrid's freshing of their team. Might as well sign Isco, Jovic, Mariano, the fat lump and the tea lady next.

Bissouma went for about half the price and nothing. This club is so badly run it boggles the mind.

Edit - I am big fan of Casemiro and he will help us, but our team will take at least 2-3 years to fix and by then he'll be 33

This is where our fanbase gets itself into a pickle. No he won't, not even close. So many people convince themselves that one signing will fix a lot more than it actually will. It's like people thinking De Jong was going to solve everything.

This team is an utter shambles, Casemiro doesn't change that completely, but he'd be an amazing cog in the machine, but that machine still has many cogs needing to be replaced.
I appreciate your perspective but you misunderstand. I’m not expecting him to actually make the others more talented.

He will enable ETH to set up and train the players into a more effective unit. The absolute no1 thing stopping this at the moment is a lack of a competent CM.

Clueless comment.

Conte is always a pragmatic coach. He can work out with teams with minimum additions. He proved multiple times previously.

But ETH wants to play certain way for that you need more than one player in my opinion. Of course ETH can make it work but chances are slim with current personals in your team.
Its a rebuild so not everything will happen at once

This gives us a top class DM to rival anyone in the world in that area though

Mitten in the talk of the Devil's said Casemiro is really close to Ancelotti and Ancelotti sees him as a future manager. Huge tactics nerd, watches post game analysis constantly in his own time. On the pitch obviously a beast... I really don't think he's the type to put his feet up and relax. He'll bring a warrior attitude to our midfield for the first time in ages, and be relentless and inspire others.

I still can't believe it's true. But if it is, then I'm 100% for it and just wondering why not 2 months ago.

I don't see how that is possible. Wouldn't he need a work permit being non EU? When would players have to be registered for a Monday game? Don't see it
He is not a new fella came from s.america. Brazilian international with 4 European Cups. Won't be a problem in my opinion.

You'd jump at the bit to sign the tea leady, you're a dopamine fiend who just wants the hit from a new thing.
You equating Casemiro with Isco, Mariano and Jovic is the only fiendish behavior I'm seeing on this page

Not a problem to get the work permit but doesn't it just take time? How could it all get done by Monday?

Yeah ridiculous.

I'd say as fans we are more pessimistic than most given our recent dealings, even that won't stop the majority getting excited over signing one of the best players in their position in their prime a position where players seem to improve into their mid 30s.

Casemiro is by far a superior player to Bissouma. 3 years of a world class midfielder is worth every penny.

Into their mid 30s? What are you talking about? What physical DM improves at 35 vs at 28? This forum man. Whatever. Sancho, Varane, Martinez, just keep adding with no long term plan

So adding Sancho means no long term plan just like Casemiro?

Strange.

In our biggest area of need. Can't believe some are against this. Everything I've read or heard about Casemiro, says he's an absolute warrior and 100% committed to just being a top footballer. Ancelotti sees him as a future manager. Can't see a guy like that coming just to relax.

People don't realize how undesirable United have become as a club. We've been rejected by loads. We have to overpay a bit, but someone like Casemiro who could easily have 3-4 top years left? All for it. It addresses our biggest issue over the past 5 years, the lack of a DM, with arguably the best in the world. Of course, we have other issues, but we are in free fall at the moment. Bringing him in would stop that sharply, give us a platform to build from, enable Ten Hag to build his system with midfield balance finally, and then enable us to negotiate future transfers from a position of strength. That's why the high cost would be worth it. Its stopping the free fall. Guys like bellingham, Frenkie, rice, etc won't join United in our current state. After a year or 2 of Casemiro and Ten Hag, I'd expect it to change.

Casemiro is a great player, and would really improve our team, but he wont solve one of the main problems in our midfield. We dont have anyone to progress the ball, and that's why we wanted De Jong. Casemiro will add much needed physicality and defensive nous, but we still need a ball player in midfield. And SMS is not that player either.

He is one of elite players already played multiple years in Europe. For rookie it will take time but not elite well known sports persons in my opinion.

Think we’d have to sign him by tomorrow  no chance. Think New signings at club a have to be registered for Friday to feature in the following weekends fixtures.

He doesn't need to improve - he's probably the best in the world in his position at the moment! As long as he's better than the dross we have now for a few years, we can concentrate on building a team to compete...

Your negativity is odd - like 'old man yells angrily at clouds' vibes.

If that's true then he's truely be Ten Hags extended voice on the pitch. A captain and leader - god we've missed that.
Not saying he should be made captain right away, but that'll happen eventually surely.

He's only 30 right now, he's easily got 3 more top years left. Look at Fernandinho, who Casemiro has kept out of Brazil. He lasted quite a while at the top level. Casemiro is short term, because at the moment, our short term is a free fall which if it isn't stopped, won't give us a chance to sign any long term targets anyway. Stop the free fall, and build long term from a position of strength. You can't build long term while you're in free fall.

Reading through this thread has boggled my mind more than any other transfer thread. The cognitive dissonance over our actual predicament is something else.

I’m with the posters who understand that beggars are in no position to be choosers.

We're not in the EU anymore.

On the one hand this is the insanity we're so familiar with but we really do need a bit of steel which we've lacked since Nani's tears at Anfield. There was a barge on Ronaldo on saturday that summed up how other teams see us. If they know that someon'e going to be going through the back of them 5 minutes later they might start to think twice.
