There's no worry with this in my opinion.

If FDJ suddenly became available, EtH's number 1 target. No matter how much we've spent so far, EtH is 100% getting his man. There's no chance that he wouldn't. He was willing to waste an almost full summer on him before going after other targets.

As soon as he gets wind that he's available and willing to join. He's joining. I have full confidence of that.

What would make him more willing to join, adding Antony to Casemiro perhaps?

What would be the point in loaning a player if you are obliged to buy after a year?

Why not buy from day one?

What happens if he is badly injured during the loan period.
It's generally a way to get around FFP or accounting rules by putting the expense in a year that is more favorable for one or both teams.

How the hell did FDJ end up on a such a huge salary?

Reported to be £470,156. a week. Right up there with what Barca were paying Messi.

You can justify it for Messi or Ronaldo, but FDJ? Im not sure if United want to be taking that on.

Because of the deferred wages. And Barcelona were paying Messi about a million a week, Griezmann 600k.

Yeah I agree.

Even if Chelsea come in we will blow them out of the water.

His paycut was not a paycut, he just restructured his contract to be paid less at the beginning and it keeps getting higher every season to compensate. That's why they need him to leave, next season its even higher.

Laporta is going to run out of levers.

Without going through every post today…has anything been posted pointing to this happening?
No

We seem to be selling players in preparation for it, which is good. Just need to sell enough to put together £84M somehow.

We're not selling anyone besides Pereira and maybe Garner. We loaned out Telles, Laird and Bailly though, so maybe saved some wages.

Weve been after Frenkie for nearly 4 months. It blows my mind that people are still clueless about his financial situation.
Most come in here and just want to say he's not coming without realising the favour he did to Barca is now coming back to bite them in the arse and force them to sell him .
Unless of course he's daft enough to take ANOTHER pay cut and never see that money.

We whould sell more. I hear that is a good way to generate money.
You'd think so, but Maguire is 'not for sale' while McT is needed for depth, especially if we manage to sell Garner. If we manage to pull off De Jong this could change of course. Outside of them, there's the story about selling AWB for 10m. So I don't see how we'll generate much money here, unfortunately

Thanks!

When was the last time we went to the final days of the transfer window with such a flurry of activity expected? Our inept planning has me excited.

I know what you mean. Could be a big deadline day for us. I think Antony will get done and one other surprise…

Will Frenkie regret turning us down? When Frenkie’s sitting on on his balcony soaking in the beautiful Barcelona sunset and is then joined by a sweaty and topless Laporta after he’s taken liberties with his wife, maybe just maybe, he’ll regret turning us down. “Good lad Frenkie”, Laporta says with a wink. #mesqueunclub

No, i think he was on that to start with from the 2019-20 season. Then took a cut in 20-21/21-22....

https://www.capology.com/player/frenkie-de-jong-35562/profile/

He is owned 17mil to cover the last couple of years of deferred wages.
Seems like you're right, about 25 million euro's per year gross.

It's a lot, but given his stardom at that point, and what Barcelona were paying players, it wasn't insane. But that is a bad way of doing business, he's paid more than Lewandowski/Neuer at Bayern.

But it is also not too far off what we pay the likes of Sancho / Varane right?

Barça bs has stopped cause they don‘t want to sell him any more. The dumb goatfeckers realized they needed a backup for Busquets. Plus Frenkie played his pants off in the last two games.

Be still, my muppet soul, my muppet heart is slowly dying.

Im sure that is only because he is on double what Lewandowski is on.

Xavi is probably under instruction to freeze him out in order to free up salary cap.

If the deadline closes and FDJ has not moved, im sure he will be a mainstay in the team.
I’m not sure he would be played at all. They will still want to sell him ASAP.

If they think the stumbling block to that is FDJ refusing to leave, they are not going to treat him as a key player - that just gives him the green light to stick around and collect full dollar for the rest of his contract.

Within the last 24 hours there was some shit about “confirmed, De Jong will take a salary cut or leave the club next week” - may or may not have been from Barca but I wouldn’t say their BS has stopped.

That would be some transfer window. Still don't think money is the issue with FDJ and he's just not interested, but perhaps signing Casemiro and splashing the case elsewhere will convince him of our ambitions. We'll see
Couldn’t hurt! We just don’t know what he wants but playing with Casemiro is better than being lobbed in with McFred.

De Jong can not be “immense” for us.

No matter how talented or professional he is. If he doesn’t want to come here, forcing him to won’t be doing us any favours.

We need players like Casemiro - makes “make United great again” his life motto. Antony - goes on a riot to be allowed to join us,

De Jong made it clear he wants to play for Barcelona, no matter what they owe him.
It’s not just the 17million. He WANTS to be there. Just look at him playing. He is not sulking, he is giving his all on the pitch.

Reminds me of Stoitchkov - Barcelona forced him out and he was miserable in Italy, hence the bad performances. They took him back to Barca and he smashed it again.

De Jong seems to be 100% Barcelona DNA.
Even if they make him come here, I’m certain he won’t be good.

There are other ball progressing midfielders in the world, let this guy go.
