This is bollocks IMO. The club trying to play it cool by saying it's over. Their leverage has increased since Casemiro signed.

No way we don't get another CM in. Eriksen was absolutely gassed vs Liverpool.
Half the team were. I’m actually excited about Casemiro and how he can free up others, especially Eriksen.
De Jong can rot in Spain.

There is no way in hell we're getting DeJong and Anthony.

I'm leaning more towards Anthony or none.

I think this is more of an opinion piece than a brief or anything like that. If it was a brief it would be more than 1 report going out there, we'd get a lot within a very short space of time
Agreed; everytime we’ve done a brief before, there’s usually 4-5 articles all saying the exact same thing from the usual UK journos.

Get Anthony and Gapko & If this doesn't get done so be it, With the additions of Malacia, Eriksen , Martinez and Casemiro we will be a far better team. I have a feeling Unifed " cooling " their interest is one last play to get Barca to pay up but if they don't we'll feck them move on with what we have and give ZIdane Iqbal more time on the pitch.

Yeah, given ETH has played Iqbal I wonder if he'll give him chances in the league this year. In any case he should play him in Europa league.

It's not really though, is it - we've tried to sign a particular holding midfielder all summer and have now signed another, stylistically different holding midfielder.

Casemiro being an alternative to de Jong makes sense.
I still think we want FDJ if we could get him.

Without him we have to play a little differently but hey, Casemiro gives it to Antony or Eriksen and between them we can progress the ball just fine. Important to get Antony now.

So we have Sistoney and Laurie Whitwell saying it's done no matter what the Spanish press say and that's not enough English journos for you?

They need convincing to pay the 17m if they want rid of him
The complete package for him is what? 85m fee + like 350.000/week for 5 years? Round about €170m + agent fee? And people still think the deal has been hanging for 3 months because of those 10%? That would be pretty ridiculous.

This is impossible in my book now. They can't replace him with Bernardo now which was the plan originally.

They won't have any depth at CM if they don't replace him.

Hopefully fdj decides to move next year.

It would be, agreed. But then this whole farce has been a bit ridiculous

Even if we have done a brief, it wouldn’t be conclusive. Things do change even at the last minute. As SAF used to say, if a top player becomes available we should (and probably still will) try to get them, if we can afford it. Added to that, we’ve been known to bring forward funds from future windows (Bruno signing for example).

Okay so we identified a midfielder that we need to move us up the pitch, press resistant was the quality we were looking for, spent over 3 months pursuing him, and then buy a midfielder with completely different qualities, a destroyer that sits in front of the back, and that is the alternative :houllier:

Our recruitment policy never changes, rather than actually address the problems, we throw money at it and hope it papers over the cracks.

It's been on the cards for probably the last month now that he wasn't coming, so not surprised but hugely disappointed.

He has got to change the formation to 4-3-3 now with Casemiro coming in and not FDJ, to get the best out of the players he has got.

I mean in the end you'll be right here, but I can't imagine him moving without us making one last push. Most likely he won't move at all in my opinion
Only little hope I'm holding is I'm sure at one point we briefed that we pulled out of the Antony deal. Now that looks set to be sorted soon, so all might not be lost.

Yes?

Have you ever heard of margins? If we start applying this logic to every transfer, we'll be paying £50m+ extra each window "just not to hold things up".

I'm still waiting on that source that you said mentioned we were going to cover his wages.

Looks like our pursuit of De Jong is done. Disgrace. Absolute disgrace. Ten Hag's number 1 priority chased all summer and they've failed. This is why we'll always be screwed under the Glazers. Run by incompetence.

I'm hoping he does . FDJ would have been the icing on the cake but Casemiro and Eriksen makes us far stronger giving us time to bring the likes of Iqbal through

Not buying it. No chance we won’t move for him late in the window if there is a chance. Barca still wants him out and he still haven’t been paid his wages. This deal was never hinging on Casemiro. Still absolutely sure we gonna make a move. Just a week or so. You will see.

He was never gonna give up his insane wages for the next couple of years, you would need to give him something like 750k/week to convince him to come and he isn't anywhere near worth that.

It landed on time. Fog drifting across the runway like a prime George Best, effortless and with the faint odor of gasoline. Inside the plane began the stirring of some passengers as they readied for arrival. Two seats, however, remained in use for several minutes after the final stewardess had fixed her skirt and thanked Snowjoe for his routine servicing...

"Sigh," she sighed. "Thees weather ees mucho coldio."
Frenkie also sighed, but with more sighness. "We're not in Spain anymore, Mikky. Speak Englishings." He removed the prop moustache he had culturally appropriated from Catalonia and switched it for his backup bucket hat. There was no doubt that Ryanair would have sent the suitcase with the primary one to Karachi or the Moon by mistake.

Mikky gave Frenkie a sad face like you would see from a cat or duck or something before you smashed it's face in with one of your dad's golf clubs. "Why did we come here, Frenkie? London has dickhead cyclists that we could clip with our Range Rover on days out, and they have at least one restaurant that's good. Manchester hasn't been relevant since Whiplash."

"First off; James also brought out a little album called 'Pleased to Meet You' years after Whiplash so you're just plain wrong. Secondly..."
Frenkie raised his hand to stop Mikky talking back, like he had learned from Centrist and critical thinker Andrew Tate.

He ruffled under his chair for his shotgun and night vision goggles.

"Ninja Cyborg Badgers. They've followed us. Get behind me Mikky!"

@rimaldo take the wheel.
“shtop trying to make ‘ninja cyborg badgers’ a thing. no one will say it, you’ve got more chance of barcelona paying you what you’re owed.”

“that’s right, it’s us, the lethal weapons!” exclaimed murtough and rich in a disjointed unison which only hinted at their incompetence.

“i’m just three days from retirement,” said murtough as the elastic on his tracksuit bottoms finally gaveway, exposing his marvel superhero y-fronts. rich shuffled through a stack of creased papers, “now, franky baby, i’m sure you’re wondering exactly what these two definitely the right men for the job are doing here, along with this very professional looking dossier? well it’s no coincidence. we are manchester united and these are a printout of scouting reports that murtough got on his fm 16 save and before you sign for your new club, we want to convince you to come to manchester united instead.”

“but i’m already here to…” rich placed a finger on frenkie’s lips in a shushing motion. the only sound now was murtough fighting to get his trousers to stay up.

“hear us out. we think you will be a perfect fit in our midfield with casio and sony ericsson.”

“another shrewd sponsorship-cum-player deal from the absolute maestros” murtough interjected; missing a fist bump with rich.

“i know, that’s why i’m…”

“shush now, let me speak.” the only sound to be heard now was mikky rifling through the duty free trolley and buying all the perfume so she didn’t have to smell the porcelain faced wenches that would greet them as they made their way through border control.

“how much are they paying you? we’ll double it!” murtough shouted before returning his attention to the mustard stain on his t-shirt.

“but it is you who are..”

“christ, man! we’re busy people, we don’t have time for this. rich is up to level 5 on candy crush and i’m about to get sacked from the aldermaston job if i lose the crunch match against slough town this weekend on fm. i’ve lived every manager’s dream, starting out at the top with manchester united, and ending up in non-league football.”

“it’s what we all dreamed of as kids,” said rich as he wiped a tear from his cheek.

“it’s 350,000 a week, but in accordance with british press tradition, it will go up 50,000 with every bad performance.”

“like i said, we’ll double it, so that makes………..carry the three………. how does……………. 575,000 sound?” said murtough as he counted his fingers and toes.

“just take the money and we go!” shouted mikky, as the rain somehow pelted her whilst inside the plane.

“huzzah; another victory!” exclaimed murtough. “we need to run or we’ll miss our connecting flight to frankfurt. murtough has found and up and coming goalkeeper on his fm save, keith traps, and we need to snatch him up.”

I’m assuming Barca can get all their players registered and the circumstances we clung to are no longer applicable? Guess de Jong is going to sort his financial situation with Barca too.

Aah, well. I had hoped ten Hag was going to get his number one target. Monday’s result was great, but so much work still needs to be done on this team.

Ah yes, the two journalists who were reporting on the Casemiro transfer weeks before it happened

Where the grass is greener.
How do you go back to work after months of your employers desperately trying to get you to either leave your workplace against your will or give up money you are owed. It's so bizarre if we take it out of the context of football.
