How quick is Antony? Iv watched clips and some Ajax games but not sure if he’s a pacey winger or more a sancho type? Love his left footed shooting from the right. Scores some peaches.
I know Sancho is not the fastest but he can be bloody quick when he needs to. I was impressed by how fast he is last game.
Anyway, pace won’t make us a better team. It’s useful in counter attack but not that much 90% of games when we face compact blocks.

I hope he uses some of the transfer fee to fix his jawline acne, they are 'Cassano' level.
Welcome anyway

Huge fee but it’s for an exciting player so I’m okay with it. We’ve not had an exciting attacker for quite some time.

True, but individual scrutiny is greater when expectation is set by a fee.

I don't think Harry Maguire would remotely be viewed in the same way if we procured his services for 30 million quid. Perhaps not the best example as he's captain, but I believe it makes a difference to how they're covered and unfortunately some players don't handle it as well as others.

If a Brazilian lad from the Dutch league comes for 30 million I don't think it attracts much attention at all and it probably gives them a lot more time to bed in without mass focus on them. Whereas with this it's just inevitable that much is going to be expected in a short space of time.
I don’t think it’s worth worrying about. EtH knows the player inside out. He obviously feels strongly he can make the step up mentally as well as in a footballing way.

You should be excited not worried!

Very happy with this. But we had a really good relationship with Ajax and I hope this doesn’t change that.

I mean all we did was bid right, we didn’t do anything unethical.

Think he is bringing in players who can stand up for themselves and won't let PL bullies push them around.

And that was a deal so bad Arsenal had an internal investigation into it which resulted in people leaving the club.

Big money signing are always a gamble, sometimes they work, sometimes you get a Pepe, Kepa, Lukaku or Maguire.
Exactly. That said I think the issue over his fee here is strange as it’s in line with what everyone else has been doing this window.

€100m. fecking hell. Still trying to stomach the idea that a player on 400k+ a week might be sitting on our bench all season, and now this.

I think its a concern especially as its United and the media here are quick to try and rip United players who cost a lot apart.

A lot of expectation will come quickly due to the fee. I assume he will need time

You've given them over 150 million this summer, why would they be mad?

More likely to be free blowjobs in Amsterdam for everyone with a manc accent.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.
I bet we could have had both at Antony and Martinez at the start of the transfer window with a joint bid of 100m bid for both.
Anyway, we all know how useless we are.
But both are going to be amazing signings for us. Young and world class. That's how we should be buying, so well done on those two.
Great news.

Meh, don't care. He's a good player that our manager has worked with and wants.

remember when Ajax wanted €80m when we were first interested in late June / early July? I hate how this club is run so much.
Why do people just keep writing things they know nothing about as fact. How do you know thats not just paper talk? Or even if its true how do you know if we didnt bid 80 and they upped the price? Or how do you know that Utd said we cant afford 80 for Antony and 80 for De Jong plus Martinez etc which should we go for and Ten Hag said De Jong? Now you will say well they fkd up the De Jong deal but how do you know that? Maybe Ten Hag has been speaking to De Jong and all indications were that it was done but Barca started being dicks? How do you know wtf went on? You dont and neither does Goldbridge et al. Its just theories not fact. There is a difference.

I am both. I think it's the most interesting signing we could have made for that position.

I doubt it has had a bad impact on our relations with them. It’s mainly between Ajax & Antony that the stand-off has been between rather than ourselves and Ajax.

Since the EPL isn’t quite as “hard tackling” as it was a few years ago, I think Antony will be a player that infuriates players and fans from other clubs. The reason I say this is a player with his tricks and flair would just get clattered by defenders, but nowadays players are a little more protected.

I just hope he has end product After all those tricks etc. I think he might irritate some of our own fans and players if he starts doing his showboating if we aren’t playing well.

Personally I’m quite excited. Seems to have the accuracy of pass, with some of Nani’s curled shot skills. Hope it’s going to be tasty!

Antony's fee can realistically only be measured in terms of how he improves our chances of making top 4. Without him we certainly almost wouldn't make it especially with Martial's injuries. And no other top level attacker is available and willing to come. I rate Antony to be better than Sancho because of his stamina and work-rate.

Nothing happens in isolation so it’s not like the price is not an issue at all, but let’s not blow it out of proportions - in terms of United finances I remain optimistic, when it comes to Antony himself I just hope he fully ignores the media bullshit he will face and all the constant reminders of a hundred million price tag. Then again, is the pressure really that much larger when we pay for him 100m compared to potential 70m?

Huge fee but Ajax probably looked at Nunez’s fee as a comparable and understandably held their ground. Forget the price, Antony is an exciting signing and finally brings in a left footed forward.

Insane fee but hopefully he can live up to the expectation and pressure on him. I've not been convinced by the transfer but here's hoping he can have a big impact
