Pretty much every EL Thursday game means a 2pm Sunday kick off. It's been like that for years.

    So? It's not a 3pm game
It has been this way forever. Games that would have been 3pm Saturday kickoffs (like this one) get moved to Sunday 2pm when either team has played Europa League on the Thursday prior, and they are never on TV, as they would have been 3pm blackout games regardless.

Well they have ruined my day, I hope they're happy.

Well it's just not on TV in UK/Ireland. It's on about 20 to 30 channels elsewhere.

Looking forward to today. Watch this and Liverpool V City and then out for work night out. Hoping for a good Sunday
A night out with work colleagues on a Sunday evening? Sounds like a nightmare.

Yeah maybe not. I find it hard to subscribe to a “the best” title unless it’s an anomaly like a Haaland. I’d say he’s definitely up there though.

Either way, this will in no way be an easy game. As I mentioned, they’ve only lost 5 times all year and it’s all against top 4 sides. They had City against the ropes almost for a whole half too. Should be a really good game and I think we can take 3 points if we’re really on it.
Which was largely down to ASM, who absolutely ran City ragged that day.

    Rashford
    Martial (is he fit?)
    Antony

If Martial isn’t fit, I’d go with Rashers up top and Sancho left. Anyone but Ronaldo up top to be honest.
Agree. Ronaldo is improving, but he is not better than Rashford at this time.

I see this as a real tough game, a great marker to judge where we are.

Last week away was a great test too, we did very well, but caveat was Everton with their midfield of energy lacking ability ended up ceding possession and control to us completely.

Is this game going to be one where we control possession and territory or one where we end up beating them on the counter like a bit against Arsenal?

My prediction is a 1-1 or 2-2 draw, but I am more interested in the performance than the result.

    Yup, this 100%

Newcastle are a very good side already. I think home + their injuries means we'll probably win but it won't be easy.

I'm guessing it was a 3pm sat kickoff but due to our Europa games these rare Saturday games get moved to Sunday. The limited Sky Sports BT schedules are set ages ago.

Hopefully one day the PL can join the 21st century and allow these games to be viewed in the country they're happening in and collect some money.

reducing Newcastle’s ability to pin city in their own half solely on ASM is a pretty simplistic view imo but I’m sure our manager won’t be making the same mistake
First of all, try not to put words in my mouth. Largely and solely are two different things.

However, the guy made two assists and no doubt he was the one fouled for the free kick Trippier scored from, so it's fair to say my statement about him largely being the reason they looked so threatening against City is accurate.

That being said, Newcastle have played well without him, picking up some good results on the way, and I have no doubt that today will be a very tough game.

Feel like Martial will start and punish me by scoring 2-3 goals for replacing him with Richarlison in my FPL team. Won't be complaining about this though.

Surprised at people thinking it will be comfortable. Newcastle are a different team now. At least Isak and ASM are out luckily. Bruno Guaimares is very good.

I see it as very difficult game. We shall see.

It will be a tough game but I don't think we should rush him back. Last thing we want is a reoccurring injury. We've got Spurs and Chelsea after Newcastle.

Ronaldo looked pretty good against Everton, so I'm hoping he can replicate that type of performance if he starts this afternoon.

P.S. I put Martial on the bench in my FPL team. :nervous:

I read the other day that sky are against the removal of the 3 pm blanket ban. Worried if it’s removed more companies will enter the bidding for the rights to show the games.

Probably wouldn’t make as much money as the current system does unless they added it as an extra but a streaming service that shows those games that aren’t televised added to what they already make.

I hate fecking around trying to find a stream, eventually finding the one decent one that doesn't have a million pop ups only for it to last about 10 mins before it cuts off.

Yeah, I agree that we shouldn't rush Martial back; it's just my feeling that he'll start and score a couple. But if he's not going to play, then I'd rather move Rashford up top and play Sancho on the left who looked lively against Omonoia IMO.
