Who will it be?

Ronaldo? Messi? Kane or Lewandowski? Maybe Neymar or Martinez? Or a surprise maybe?

Vini Jr, Benzema or maybe Lautaro Martinez, you need a team that goes deep into the competition

We've got Wales, USA and Iran in the group stage. I wouldn't be surprised if kane gets 6 and wins the golden boot whilst going out in the last 16.

What about memphis delay as an outsider bet. Hollands group is terrible and there potiential last 16 is favourable. He hits the frees and pens dont he? 5/6 wins it. Hes a chance

Kane, Benzema and Lautaro will all end up on 5

Brazil will score the most goals as a team but it will be evenly spread among the front players

I think Lautaro Martinez has a good shot at it because I expect Argentina will go all the way to the end.

That being said, I think Kane and Benzema and/or Mbappe could score a bunch in the group stage.

Wasn't he a major doubt for their first game on Monday? Could be he already misses (at the least) one game.

EDIT: just checked, he's fit but will be a sub against Senegal. Vincent Janssen will start in his place.

Messi, Neymar, Gakpo

It's usually decided in the group stage in unimportant games or scoring a hat trick in a thrashing there.

Looking at the groups If Belgium had lukaku fit i would say him. It should really be kane as I can see England getting to semi's if southgate doesn't completely screw it up as I don't think France will finish first in their group so England could get a good run to the semi's

Agree it's more about shite groups than surviving rounds. A semifinalist gets to play 7 games, half of those are in the group stage and most goals *should* happen there as well.

Reckon someone like Mané could have had a shot being in that group, can't see past Lewandowski or Messi/Lautaro now.

Mind, climate may be a big factor. It seems everyone is assuming Qatar, Saudi and Iran will struggle. Not sure about Iran, I'd actually check odds on them topping their group.

I‘d argue that you most importantly need a shit group to pad stats against a minion or two.

Benzema will apparently/maybe miss the first game and is still not fully fit so that may be a difference maker.

Lautaro has by far the best draw to get 4 in the first 3 group games. So I'd go for him or Memphis.

Vini Jr might not start so don't like his odds. You can always bet on him later if he wins a starting spot.

Fun dark horses:

Eriksen - Penalties, good group, team well capable of playing in the 3rd place game (those count, right?)
Ferran Torres - Starts on the left and Morata could get benched and he's the #9
Sane - Good form
Fullkrug - Only real #9 in the squad apart from Moukoko who is so small and young and Germany have often made good use of a #9 like Klose

Difficult to look past Neymar, probably coming in to the World Cup as the most in form player. Has arguably outshined both Messi and Mbappe this season. My money is on him for not only the Golden boot but also the golden ball.

Heart says Messi though :)

Wee tip if you’re doing a top goalscorer/ golden boot the rules are slightly different, didn’t realise this till last night,

Top goalscorer - ronseal and if it’s a tie it’s a dead heat

Golden boot - outright winner ronseal, but if there’s a tie assists, minutes played etc gets taken into account, different bookies have different rules, so watch

I just put 20 pounds on Rashford  (am a few beers deep obviously)

Would get 6000 back if this somehow happens.
