I just can’t believe the team we had out. It’s like something from 5-10 years ago.

Evans and Maguire, McT and Eriksen. Unbelievable given the money we’ve spent.

Please, please sort the ownership out, we’re only going in one direction until then.

6 billion for United? You're having a laugh. There is no hope. Best shut down the club.

So predictable.
What annoys me is our build up from the back through midfield. We look so static and out of options.
Then you have forwards fluffing the few chances we make.

Yeh, United, with the world class central defensive partnership of Evans and Maguire should be beating the worlds best side…

Im sure this will be a very rational thread to read, not a dumping ground for a decade of misplaced rage against our managers

Good to see that we didnt drop Ole`s vision of assembling dislikeable bunch of overpaid cnuts
I would take Ole back at this point. We used to get a result against City under him.

The penalty to City was scandalous but other than that this game was like a training session to City, they'd have won regardless of that penalty. United honestly couldn't have looked more apathetic as a team today.
City are a team built to be frontrunners, the gifted first goal made a huge difference to their game.

Hope, We Lose
Had no chance of getting even a point with the way we finished chances today. Were always going to need to get a goal. And we should have got at least 1, maybe 2 with the chances we had. The actual efforts we had from those chances were poor. We were also poor with our final balls right before chances. So we could have had more good chances to get an effort on goal. We should have scored, we could have got a couple and we actually got 0. Shoutout to Bruno and Dalot who were poor with crossing from the right, while on the left side Rashford and Lindelof werent even giving the width to look like getting crosses in.

Now the other side of the pitch. City got 3 and yet with decent finishing they could have got another 2 themselves. 3 clear goals was about the size of the difference between the teams. We have many defensive vulnerabilities, from players tracking runners back and double ups on the sides to Lindelof not being in the left back area where Haaland heads home. With Lisandro's form and injuries this season I think we're as poor defensively as we were a couple of seasons ago before we bought him.

Onana is the only player I would say played well overall. Eriksen had a couple of nice passes in the 2nd half, but struggled as much as anyone else in midfield defensively and also gave the ball away poorly at other times.

Oh look, another game against City where we're completely outplayed and aren't even marginally competitive, the only saving grace is they didn't score more but even that's not even all that important because no one can come out of that game feeling anything other than the fact we were battered.

We are unable to build any sort of meaningful possession or pressure, our counter attacking threat is non existent, we defend like a bunch of startled pigeons and fold at the first sign of adversity.

Did anyone honestly expect anything different once the line ups were released?
Do you honestly think people actually did expect anything different? Seems a bit of a mute question

Our squad isn't the best ever, but our coaching must be utter rubbish. ETH has got to be held responsible for some of this. I really wanted him to be a good coach, but his decisions are horrible, a lot of our transfers that he clearly heavily influenced have been horrible. Just an all round shit show. We are seasons away from challenging again, and have gone backwards.

feck me - how did we get so bad. Mount, Antony, Fernandez, the formation is not working. Garnacho looks like a headless chkn again. Rashford has regressed. Amrabat - ??? Is it a different one from the World Cup version. Shambles on every level.

Completely expected result. We are as we all know no where near citys standards. Totally dominated us for 80 of 90 minutes.

The only positives are it wasnt 5 or 6 nil.
Onana shot stopping has improved.
Strange sub at half time, i wait to see if Amrabat was injured..

last point, can we get rid of Anthony hes just a horrible brat.

It was tactical to pick Evans in place of Varane. Please can we stop making daft excuses for the manager. It’s not clever to look at the fact that past managers haven’t been good enough and think that our sacking them was the problem.

Blame the Glazers. They designed a club to scrape top four every other year. Obviously we get panned by the treble holders.

City winning the derby convincingly without having to really work for it. It’s pretty much become the natural order now in this fixture to the part I’m genuinely unsurprised with the defeats.

Fully expected. When you have a clueless, spineless manager and the likes of Bruno and Rashford being undroppable no matter how bad they perform, a loss against even a half decent team is virtually guaranteed. Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. I expect us to lose against Newcastle in the week too and would not be surprised if we got beat at Fulham next weekend too.

God I am so fecking sick of this shit. How hard is it when spending hundreds of millions of pounds to assemble a team that will at least run, fight and not get played off the fecking park like a bunch of kids against our rivals time and again?

Absolutely dreadful. Why was Amrabat taken off at halftime? Why the feck was Bruno kept on? We played a pensioner at centre half and he was 10 times the player that rashford, Fernandez and McTominay are. What the feck is wrong with this team? On paper there is huge talent in the club but they are completely lacking in motivation and desire. It is disgusting to watch this. And please…..don’t blame the ref. We are not good enough. A sorry state of affairs.

Absolutely shocking, from the players themselves to ETH decisions, it’s like he’s given up.

Poor recruitment during the post-Ferguson era began with Fellaini and continues through Antony and Mount.

I would honestly take any manager who drops players now for bad form. What used to be a prerequisite for the job is now apparently impossible. Rashford and Bruno should be toast be now.

Not sure what ETH’s vision is. Couldn’t pass, couldn’t press. Not once when City had the ball we could pressurise them. Was very easy for City and we let them play their game.
As for the pen…..

Same issues for months now. Slow, no coherence, no spark, spineless. Play the kids, at least they have something to play for.

Ten Hag is not that guy
Unfortunately that seems to be the case.

Spurs are just 5 months into a good manager’s reign and they look a transformed team, ready to challenge for the title. We spent 300+ million and are 17 months into our managers reign but look to be going backwards.

Bizarre (outrageously expensive) transfers, bizarre team selection, no cohesion and no discernible game plan. We look clueless.

Watching the TV or is it watching me
City are better than us not sure what some expected to be honest, it's not difficult to see our injuries at the back are killing us, I'll net EthH didn't expect to have to play Evans in games like this let alone the FB issues

Long time lurker(and I mean long time). First time posting.

This match was actually dreadful, I had no hopes coming in to it and yet I feel disappointed.

For the next match, I truly, truly hope ETH grows some cojones and starts Garnacho over Rashford and Mainoo or Mount ahead of Bruno. Atm these two offer absolutely nothing to the team. As I've read so many times here and agree 100%, Rashford does not fight for team at all, always backs out of 50-50s, rarely(if ever) chases opponents when they attack his side or when they are even close to him, he just walks or jogs along.

Bruno on the other hand is just awful atm, loses the ball constantly, tries stupid flicks or unnecessary one touch passes, when he can take his time and pick out a better pass or more accurate pass.

Oh and I reaaaally hope AWB is back for the next PL fixture, Dalot has been trash as well. He's 100% to blame for that second goal, just look at what he does before City plays the ball to that side. Dalot was in Citys half and he didn't even bother to track back(to his fcking position!) and Bruno ends up in a 2 v 1 situation where Bilva easily overlaps Bruno and crosses it to Haaland.

I'm so sick off these 3 players, but specially Bruno and Rashford who are supposed to be our best players, best players my arse...

My faith in ETH is dwindling away for every match atm, I hope he turns this around. But he needs to make som changes to the XI.

The gulf in confidence between the two teams - City played like they had delusions of grandeur, we on the other hand looked an anxious GAD mess. Eriksen and Amrabat couldnt make simple six yard passes because they were so nervous.

Pep has got into the heads of the City team that they are best team around. The confidence they had throughout the game compared to us. Ultimately this falls on the manager. the reason we were so good under ferguson was ferguson, he had motivated the team to essentially think that they were the best team every time they went out and played.

When you are confident things come easier. You work harder and things come off for you. We are completely devoid of confidence. We looked like a team of individuals, whereas city look like a team. I was even saying to myself after twenty minutes that if we nick this one nil, we are not winning the PL this season. What happens when we go to anfield or Chelsea, we would be hammered.

Ultimately this falls on the manager to motivate the players. Management is about 30 percent tactics and 70 percent psychology. any idiot can scribble tactics on a board - the elite managers like ferguson and pep get inside players heads. the similarities between this city team under pep and us under ferguson - teams were beat before the whistle had even gone.

I think ten hag is in trouble. Its up to him to motivate the players and we look a right mess devoid of confidence. But who replaces him? Man utd has turned in a graveyard for managers since Fergie retired.

Players and fans complaining about the ref. As bad as each other. Over 70% of people on here are happy watching this rubbish so we get what we deserve. Ten Hag is obviously clueless as a coach
To be fair, he obviously isn't and there are years of evidence for that. And I don't even think he can turn this around.
But if anyone thinks that getting the next guy in line will yield to anything else than a short-term manager bounce (if that), he's in for a rude awakening.
This club needs to be purged. Literally. Rotten to the core.
