I've been saying this for the last 3 years. We have no one that can run at people and cause havoc consistently for 90 minutes. Every other team has that 1 or 2 wingers that constantly beat their man all game.
Used to love the partnership Gary Neville had with Beckham, covered for each other and the balls Beckham used to put into the box from miles out. Then you had the likes of Giggs, Kanchelskis and Sharpe, Ronaldo when he first came to us.

The only team that matters
Completely expected result. We are as we all know no where near citys standards. Totally dominated us for 80 of 90 minutes.

The only positives are it wasnt 5 or 6 nil.
Onana shot stopping has improved.
Strange sub at half time, i wait to see if Amrabat was injured..

last point, can we get rid of Anthony hes just a horrible brat.
IMO Amrabat was taken off to stop him getting sent off, he got booked for that set to with Foden and then kept on chirping at the referee, he'd have gotten another yellow eventually

United did about as well as we expected.

I would just like United to pick a system and go with it…But the constant shape and personnel changes just makes it look like we don’t have a clue.

Lindelof at left back when Regulion is fit and a much better player, Eriksen as a defensive midfielder when it’s known he doesn’t have the engine, Fernandes wise right when he has zero pace or dribbling ability and Rashford playing when he’s so out of form he’s non existent is just the problems from the start of the game.

Taking off Amrabat when he’s our only defensively disciplined midfielder then expecting a duo of McTominay and Eriksen would cut it against arguably the best side on the planet, not taking Rashford off, not bringing Garnacho on much earlier and keeping Fernandes as wide right until we’re 3-0 down are just further decisions that were ridiculous.

I’ve been a massive ETH fan for a few years and was desperate for him to take us over but he’s so fecking stubborn he can’t admit his wrong decisions and persists even if it costs us, he shouldn’t be allowed any more money until he does something with what he’s spent and if he keeps making the same ridiculous decisions then he deserves to go and has no one but himself to blame.
Ditto. I want to believe in him but he seems to be terrible in all aspects of his role - recruitment, training, tactics both pre game and in game. I don't believe anyone on the field understands their role.

We have come so far away from the the "best team in transition" side he planned to make. He is so out of his depth it's untrue. He should never have been given control of recruitment but then i don't trust anyone at united not to screw it up.

I can only hope we get Mitchell in but i very much doubt it - and I'm sure if he did come he'd be terrible since we're basically cursed. Unless we start playing like a team and actually getting some a tune out of the existing squad i could see ETH gone before Jan.

Like someone else said, at least Oleball was fun to watch. Even LVG ball wasn't this bad. Hell, I've been supporting Utd since 1977 and i can't remember the team ever being this bad.

You can't judge too much on losing to a very well oiled machine like this, especially when they get a goal freebie early on. That said though, taking a 1 goal deficit at half time and then somehow conspiring to make us worse is really poor. What on earth was the plan to take Amrabat off and put Scott in his invisibility cloak in his position? Madness. It took all of 5 minutes for the game to go away from us then.

The loss isn't the issue for me, its the bafflement at the decisions.

It was pretty comfortable for City in the end and it could have been worse if not for Onana. I wasn’t totally disappointed with how Onana played and the two centre backs, but we were ultimately well beaten by the better team. We did have a few chances to score ourselves but it’s been a pretty familiar story by not taking them.

Physical attributes are non-negotiable in the modern game. The first questions I would ask of any potential signing are "is this lad in the top 20% for pace, strength, workrate and stamina". If the answer is 'no' to any of those then it's a non-starter
This! A million times this! We need better technical players that's unquestionable but you CAN beat a Pep team IF you have an extremely aggressive and physically capable team. We don't have that.

That’s 25% of the season completed.
Goals scored, conceded and GD is similar to teams in the lower half of the table.
8th place after this weekend’s fixtures have completed, flatter us.

Fulham away next and then a really tough one…Luton at home.
( I’m not joking)

Had big hopes for United this season, probably not for winning the league, but competing for top three, good runs and a win in one of the national cups and possibly making the QF's of the Champions League.
I thought ETH did well last season, and given a couple of top signings, and the promotion of several promising academy players into the squad, we would start to see the development of a solid, good footballing and exciting team, but unfortunately injuries have played a massive part in our poor start, but probably more disappointing is our woeful transfer dealings over the past 15 months or so.

Take a look at our starting 11 and compare it to City's. Even if City had 6-7 injuries, players like Evans, Amrabat, Lindelöf, McT, Eriksen or Højlund would never play for them. Even their bench is stronger than many in our starting lineup.

An insane amount has been used at United, but which players do we have in the squad? I don't understand how we can have such a lousy starting line-up.

Tough watch as expected. The only positive I can take is we don't have to play them anytime soon.

Beckham used to do more running in 1 game compared to our current starting wingers these days, looking at a certain left winger here...

Plus our full backs are terrible. Like genuinely. Dalot is one of the worst RBs at top clubs, Lindelof, the less said the better, I don't want my blood pressure going up again after I already saw him today.

Thing I'd I expected a loss but I did expect a better performance with at least 5% passion. This is so bad, it's just becoming pointless watching us play. Hag the players the board the owners the former players, its just all poison.

Soon as I saw the line up knew we would get battered. That is hte sad thing once we were 15mminutes in there was an invelitability of the result. We werent even that bad and City were nowhere near top form.
Dont want to single out individual players, but one thing on here....any player puts in 3/4 decent performances in a row and they get defended. And half decent player will do that in 3/4 spells over a season....this lot 90% of them have been dreadfl, in cases for years, why do we defend them when they have a decent game?
Also, I have to agree with Gary Neville.....the manager got virtally every substittion wrong. Firstly seemed ti change to try and ct off the spply line from Rodri....the obvios big while was the space SIlva and Grealish had...his change gave them even more? WHy didnt the players themselves have the intelligence to see the problem and cover it, very few seem to have intelligence in the game.
We are a team that will get nowhere near the cl places this season

Beckham also practiced freekicks all afternoon, do any players do that nowadays. We are no threat from any sort of set pieces.

It was a very routine, bread-and-butter win for Manchester City. They stepped it up when they needed to.

I remember in our heyday if we had been awarded that pen it would have been controversial, but it was a foul. Rodri had got the wrong side of Hojlund and that is what separated it from the usual jostling.

did anyone expect a different result?
Probably not. But, I think we would have expected some fight, some nerve, some toughness in our play. Losing games sucks, but losing without pride is much worse. We didn't just go down with a whimper, we bent over for them. Again.

And that is the biggest problem, City's players run off the ball like demons constantly, our players jog around
City players mostly don’t run like demons, they constantly move or drift into positions at all times.
Sometimes quickly, but mostly it’s like a rolling tide, often effortless and not energy sapping.
Nobody stands still. That’s key !

Every player receiving the ball immediately has at least one open passing option, but mostly 2 or 3 players available to pass to.
If they come under pressure, they can quickly pass safely.
If you give them a few seconds on the ball, the constant movement opens up more passing options.

That was all on the manger today. Garnacho, Mejbri both have shown more this season that what we have out there.

line up was crap, and totally stupid to leave Varane out of this one. We needed some balance in attack, and there is nothing with Bruno on the right. 1 game I want to see him play off Hojland in the center, but Bruno keeps being moved all over. Don’t know if he is even aware of what he has to do on the pitch anymore, we have totally blunted him into a useless speculative cross merchant.

ETH is losing his grip under pressure and is buckling to some totally cryptic form of play. We have injuries, but we don’t lose 3-0 if everyone plays in the best position and based on form.

Also, WTF was he doing taking off Amrabat for Mount.

As well their passing accuracy keeps the ball in their possession almost all the time.

Terrible all round really. As soon as United got the ball you knew it amount to nothing. The opposite happened when City were going forward. Looked like they could score with ease. Amateur hour at United.

i have the horrible feeling that if it were Haaland going through on goal and he was pushed off balance like Hojlund was that it would be a penalty or at least there would be a review.
