So frustrating to see Smallings passing. Always sideways or back. Most of the time to players under pressure.
Even adding a third midfielder will not beat the press if he keeps selling short passes to wrong options.
Herrera ignoring the switch to RB(allegedly) doesn’t come into the picture when Smalling made himself available for the last free kick and slotting into the centre.
In any case we were double/triple teaming McGuire before on long throws etc so I don’t se why similar wasn’t done in the last...
Don’t see us burning the reported amounts for a squad player, which he will be if we stick to 3-5-2 / 4-2-3-1.
However if we do move to a 4-3-3 and have a creative attacker on the right wing then it makes a lot of sense.
The obsession on here with players who track back and put in a defensive shift is weird. With a solid defence and a good DM which we have Ozil would be an excellent signing.
Him at United would mean the same De Gea to Madrid saga a few years down the line. Also, Italian players hardly move out of Italy. He's juve bound for sure.
