No, nothing like it. Beyond superficial similarities like the feudal Japan setting and katana based combat, the two games have nothing in common.
  • My faith is wavering. :nervous:
  • Couldn't they predict a Silksong appearance at the Xbox Partner showcase later tonight? They've got the avatar for it and everything ffs.

https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/02/900-playstation-employees-laid-off-london-studio-closed Brutal. The gaming industry is in a terrible state at the moment. It's already an immense struggle to get AAA games developed, what's it going to...
  • I haven't watched it, don't want to spoil stuff for myself, but surely hitting 90+ hours on an almost 100% playthrough (as the title seems to indicate) of a Final Fantasy game isn't that exceptional? There have definitely been several where I...

I've also just started playing Inscryption, after seeing everyone say how you should play it even if you don't like card games. Well, I don't like card games and so far, I'm not finding this enjoyable at all. Lies!

Damn these are arriving sooner than expected even, Pentiment tomorrow already. One for the wishlist, together with Hi-Fi Rush.

Even on the default difficulty it didn't feel like button mashing was an option. Or rather, it's a combat system that invites the player to fight as stylishly as possible, if that makes sense. It's definitely one of the game's strongest parts.
  • Really don't see the problem with the graphics. Solid AA production values, fine by me. Not every game needs to be a AAA title, those development cycles are simply not sustainable for mid-sized studios like this.

Sounds like the initial rumours about Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves were correct. I assume the other two are Pentiment and possibly Grounded, based on how they were described, but we'll have to wait and see.

The entry for the base game does actually stay at 100% though, it's just the trophy overview that decreases as it contains all the other entries as well.

You do, but I still did all of that in around 50 hours or so, which is way less time than I usually spend in open-world games, even without going for trophies (which I only do if my natural playing style takes me close to it and there's nothing...

It's been a while but I don't remember that much busywork for the platinum. Only those fox chases felt annoying, other than that it's not too bloated for an open-world game. Nowhere near the 100 hour affairs that many of these games are.

Another game that fails to get the absolute basics right: The Quarry. Once you get past the night time prologue, you get hit with the most nauseating, disgusting motion blur I've ever seen in my life. Seriously, you need to see this abomination...
  • Speaking as someone who enjoyed the first game, the reason I didn't like the second one was because it felt like they overcomplicated everything. Too many types of bows, ammo, skills, components, etc. It felt exhausting. On top of that - and I...
