Valencia was very good today in a slightly more defensive role I thought.

The goal was off-side clearly. However, had Nolan been a little more alert, he could have scored without being offside.

West Ham were not impotent IMO. They did play well, and scored a marginally offside goal.

We looked reasonably good in the second half till the sending off.

I thought United did control the game till Rooney got sent off. Trying to control the game and score, when you are leading and down to 10 men, with a very shaky defence would be idiotic.

I am a 'Rooney critic', but I agree his overall play was very good today till he got sent off.

Holding on for our lifes for half an hour in our home with 10 men and a rookie centre half is certainly versus fecking West Ham is better than what we have done since SAF left.

I thought di Maria also defended very well after we went down to 10 men.

BTW I am not sure we were playing the 4-4-2 diamond today. Very often I observed that Rooney and RvP were wide forwards and Mata was playing like a #9. This is clearly illustrated in the Herrera goal. It looks like we were playing a formation that was very fluid with players exchanging...

What did I just watch?

I thought Blind was very good today. Evans looked like a top drawer CB coming out with the ball and making good passes to nullify the pressing. Rafael and Rojo also looked good, apart from the obvious ones.
