MadDogg's latest activity

  • Before this season he'd spent the previous 18 months playing mostly as a DM. Before that he'd spent most of his career here playing box-to-box, where he still tended to sit deeper than most players of that position (whether that was deliberate...

They won't give him time just for the sake of giving him time (or at least I certainly hope not). They would have to judge whether ETH is actually the right man to move us forward before making that decision.
  • Not sure about that. Garnacho's been a lot better on the right this season than he has been on the left.
  • Yep, if you've got a low centre of gravity and a bit of wiry strength, there's no issue being on the smallish side. Obviously a team can't have too many players like that so the skill requirement is a little higher, but Amad seems to have that...
  • It's something we should probably utilise more often when we're chasing the game. Put him up front and get our other players just to make constant runs around him. Hell, I'd be tempted just to start him up there next time Hojlund is out.

Easily his best game this season, and one of his best in his time here. Hopefully it'll kickstart his season and he at least gets back to the level he was last season (preferably better obviously).
  • He was an absolute monster in the first half. Still good for the rest of the match too, but first half he was probably the best player on the pitch.
  • It's not an easy one, but I do think he could have parried it a bit further out. Otherwise he had a good match, unfortunately beaten twice by deflections.
  • If they'd stayed fit they might have, but they both missed way too many games to overtake Smalling-Blind in 15/16. As it was they only started 16 league games together. Indeed, we conceded 25 goals in those 16 games, although the 7 against...
  • Not for us he wasn't. Antony last season was comfortably better than any season Sancho had with us.
  • Having it every year and doubling down on a host does make sense. Five years in a row, not so much. Two, three, maybe even four. Five years definitely seems overboard.
  • Can't just look at defeats. Yes, our lack of draws does mean that we've had more losses than you'd expect for a team sitting 6th, but it also means we've had more wins. They largely even out. We're on track to get 64 points this season, which...

Even that's very debatable. He got quite a good amount of goals and assists that season, but his general play was poor. Kind of a 'Lukaku' season if you will, where he got the individual numbers but really didn't help the team as a whole. It was...

Your point on Martial (or Jose's point on Martial, if you will) doesn't take into account that it was injuries that destroyed him in 20/21. Obviously the torn knee ligaments in the latter part of the season, but we also know that he spent months...
  • It should be remembered that Varane played like shit in a few games around that period too, especially in the CL where he was probably the worst player on the field for some of them. He started the season well, got injured (again) then for the...
