  1. Earthquake in Morocco

Unfortunately, this appears not to be the case elsewhere. The Tinmal mosque has been reduced to ruins. If that's the level of damage it can wreak to Tinmal, it's easy to imagine, as you say, that whole villages of basic construction are wiped out.
  2. Facts about football that shouldn't be true - but are

Anyone remember this midfield plodder who disappeared in the mid-90s? Turns out he went to play alongside the guy currently captaining Brazil.
  3. Helping Ukraine

May I suggest that anyone looking to host/be placed/knows someone needing to be placed in the UK "homes for Ukraine" scheme post here? I am the former.
  4. The murder of Sarah Everard | Couzens sentenced to a whole-life order

As I understand it, he bought the area of woodland in 2019. That's and unusual thing to do, isn't it? - for a man of limited means to buy a small area of woodland. And then to keep hold it, despite his debt.
  5. What’s the best save you’ve seen whilst watching a game?

I think it got a lot of credit, no? Unpopular opinion perhaps, but I have it as one of the most overrated saves ever. He didn't have his feet planted correctly when the shot was taken, resulting in him being slower than necessary to get to the ball. It would have been embarrassing for a...
  6. The vaccines | vaxxed boosted unvaxxed? New poll

Oh yeah, of course. Assuming those are the only 2 dose regimens, which is my interpretation. On that basis I make it a 30:70 split. I wonder how long it will be before the half/full results mature enough to have the same confidence level.
  7. The vaccines | vaxxed boosted unvaxxed? New poll

Do we know what % of participants/positives had the half/full regimen?
  8. SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

Interesting (perhaps), cyclist Fernando Gaviria has tested positive for a second time. The first time was back in March. This time he's asymptomatic (although notably has been in poor form). I had assumed that reinfections were edge cases that occurred in the infirm.
  9. Did he really play for them?

Beckham and Moyes Rio Ferdinand and Peter Shilton (same squad at least) Maradona and Riquelme Vinny Samways and Dani Alves
  10. SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

It may be because there's less other traffic on the road, because I'm looking out for them, or some Baader-Meinhof type phenomenon, but it feels to me like there's maybe 5 times the level of ambulance sirens than normal (i.e. far higher than the increase in patients or deaths being reported). I...

    I reckon that's bunk. Fag-packet calculation of population future life expectancy for Italy death profile: Age/deaths/future life 0-9/2/77.8 10-19/0/68.4 20-29/7/58.6 30-39/47/48.8 40-49/197/39.2 50-59/842/29.9 60-69/2515/21.2 70-79/6747/13.5 80-89/9171/7.3 90+/3056/3 Weighted average is c11...
  13. SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

From what I can see at work, most people are going about their normal lives. I don't know if there is a norm is for pubs/restaurants/theatres - it's more of a weekend thing and next weekend is probably going to be completely different to the last. There's some people off - but more as a test...
  14. SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

Not at my place, they're not. I've just found out in the local press website that we've had an employee test positive. Company declined to comment on the matter. Presumably they'd be able to confirm pretty quickly the facts, yet they've let us go home without mentioning anything.
  15. Jesse Lingard interview about his family issues

Then you should have said "There was a time when winning (except from a game or two here and there) was all that matters. ", because it's clear that even during our most successful era, players and staff, from top to bottom were allowed the space to deal with personal problems. To the extent...
