It would be a better move to go for someone who can help him in some of the swing states. Unfortunately for Trump and GOP, they took a bit of a shellacking in the the swing States in the midterms, so that bench is quite thin.

I don't think Rubio really appeals to anyone that much, outside Florida. Yes, could we worse with someone like MTG, but he is not the optimal choice for Trump imo.
