We don’t know that he wouldn’t play for free. Spanish employement law dictates that any new contract can’t be below 50% of what they currently earn. So it would have been illegal if he did play for free or anything less than 50% of what he currently earns.

If I was him I’d just be a club s!ag for a the rest of my career, almost like a tour of all the main leagues in the world. 6 months in China 6 months in USA 6 months in France 6 months in England Etc etc, I feel that’s the only way clubs will be able to afford his wages, on very short term deals
