  1. Matěj Kovář | 2023/24 Performances

I've been hoping that, rather than letting Heaton go to Luton Town, Kovar might instead go there on loan.
  2. Manchester United 3:1 Crystal Palace (Tue 19th July, 11:10 UK time)

I was just thinking the same. Odd that he didn't, fairly basic forward play, gambling on the spill.
  3. Bruno Fernandes | 2021/22 Performances

How did he play last night for the England under-21s?
  4. Nottingham Forest | Cooper sacked, Nuno takes charge

Yep, Notts is the abbreviation of Nottinghamshire, same as Cambs is the abbreviation of Cambridgeshire, Herts Hertfordshire, Beds, Bucks, etc. That is why it grates on some people to hear/read the city being given the county's abbreviation, even if it does occur quite a bit. It would be far...
  5. Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United

This is the funniest thing I have seen on the internet today.
  6. Best academy player we've produced since the class of 1992?

Scholes, Fletcher and Brown. Pogba, Picque and Beckham for players brought in at 16. O'Shea and Rossi out of the players brought straight in as pros at 17, but both should probably be excluded as non-academy graduates.
  7. Bruno Fernandes | 2021/22 Performances

Still below his best, but he is trying hard and seems to (hopefully) be back on an upwards curve in terms of form. Less waving of the arms tonight too, which is a good sign. I feel sorry for him in a front four with such a bizarre lack of chemistry.
  8. Post match vs Granada

Lazio won the the last ever Cup Winners' Cup the year (1999) they beat United in the Super Cup. Traditionally, the Cup Winners Cup was more highly regarded than the UEFA Cup, but that changed in the second half of the 90s.
  9. Records under Ole

Not shabby at all. Historic night! The other figure is beyond counting, I reckon. So much so that I groaned and said, "ah they'll park the bus with ten men and nick a draw now"; luckily I was wrong, oh so very wrong!
  10. Records under Ole

There's a 10-1 win against Wolves that was in the annual every year, but that was quite a long time ago.
  11. Moises Caicedo | Signs for Brighton

If memory serves me correctly, RvN (before failing the medical) and Hernandez were both announced several weeks before the window, both after Champions League exits. Therefore, I doubt the delay in announcing anything has anything to do with waiting for the window and has more to do with the...
  12. Post match vs Southampton

I thought Lindelof had been very good up until injury time. Quite a few players had an off night, Pogba and Fernandes far too casual at times and went for the Holywood option too often. The shape of the team while on the back foot was horrible at times, though, far too many passing channels...
  13. Republic Of Ireland Football Thread

I thought this piece on the RTÉ website was a great read — it's amazing how badly run things were back in the day, especially when you consider some of the players available. https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2020/0404/1128504-four-year-losing-streak-irelands-dark-days/
  14. Manchester United vs Club Brugge

The Mata-Bruno interplay is fantastic. Chong coming on has killed the momentum. He is a nothing player, alas.
  15. Lionel Messi

Off to Juve? They are the masters of the free transfer. He and Ronaldo will be playing up top together next season.
