I get your point - it’s been terrible - though it should be remembered that the 4 matches have been without spectators which kinda nullifies a lot of the home advantage compared to the other seasons listed.

But imagine no VAR and the ref had wrongly called an offside. We would have been denied a legitimate goal, which imo would create an even bigger uproar (especially if it would have cost us points)

Why not change the rule so you are only offside if your shoulder (or some other body part) is beyond the shoulder of the last defender. Now implement a small chip that gets attached to the player and some fancy technology that measures distance to the goal line. Job done.
