There's a difference between being upset and being depressed. Anyone can get signed off work for mental health problems. You can't get fired for being unwell. Either way, being an elite footballer is different from a normal job.

There can be big changes but in a way that looks towards the long term. Sign the young players who will fit a system but accept that results won't be immediate. The serial losers need to go. We will practically be starting with a new system next season so it's a good time to get fresh players in.
