  • Didn’t the HoF thing kick off around the time of his court case, or when it was pending? Think it was just a case of bad timing for Giggs. If it started after the case got dismissed they likely would have included him as the first pick as...

    Eto'o?
  • Potter for sure. Southgate has shown he can pick a balanced team and that's about it. Nothing about the way England has played under him has impressed me. Potter is not exactly inspiring either, but it's an easy choice between the two for me.
  • What benefits are there for a PL club? There won't be enough extra revenue to make it worthwhile dragging your players across the globe and disrupting their season and/or adding to exhaustion, surely? Not to mention giving up home advantage for a...
  • He does seem to be regressing physically quite a bit, which is a concern as he wasn’t blessed with physicality in the first place. Whether it’s down to exhaustion, age or too many clocked kms I’m not sure, but a break or even a few games coming...

You’re right, he’s on a hiding to nothing with everything you’ve said plus his price tag, legal troubles and the fact he’s seen as some kind of teacher’s pet of the manager who everyone here currently hates. He didn’t do much wrong vs Chelsea...
  • youngrell replied to the thread Our midfield (or lack thereof).
I think it's quite clear by now that it is not the midfielders but the space they are being asked to cover. Whoever comes in faces the same problems to varying degrees. The gap between defence (to low) and the attack (to high) is way too much and...
  • Do the VAR guys watch the live broadcast? I can’t help but think that if they do they could easily be influenced by the level of outrage or opinion from the commentary team. Sometimes the commentators just pick a side and stick with it even if...
  • youngrell replied to the thread Chelsea vs Manchester United.
Chelsea have been one of the teams we've been better against in recent times, so hopefully more of the same.
  • I saw him live for Spain vs Wales in a friendly back when he was still at Atletico and he absolutely bosses the game. Was like Busquets on roids, Wales couldn’t get near him (not that the Welsh midfield was anything to write home about) and he...

Thanks for the insight. Sounds interesting for sure.

I'm sure if he continues to do that as he moves up in levels he will get a nice humbling a la Hamed vs Barrera. I don't mind a bit of showboating, but doing it vs clearly outmatched opponents isn't a great look.

I haven't watched a single minute of Bologna under him but the league position looks healthy. What sort of football has he got them playing?

  • Took a knock not long before half time and true to form he didn’t make it back out. Whether that was a precaution or more I’m not sure. No chance it was tactical, he was our best defender in the first half.
