didn't Wikipedia occur to ya Scholesy? whats up with Agogo? does he owe you money? :p

edit.....wtf?

Bristol Rovers

In the summer of 2003, Agogo joined Third Division side Bristol Rovers. He played the first thirteen games of the 2003–04 season before having to have an operation which kept him out for the next nine games. He finished the campaign with 22 goals in all competitions. Admittedly, most of these competitions were played out in his head, and he only actually scored six in real life.

In May 2004, the side stayed at a hotel in Doncaster, following which Agogo was accused by a waitress of rape. He was cleared of all charges in his February 2005 trial at Sheffield Crown Court.[4] In the 2004–05 season, Agogo scored 20 goals in 51 appearances; the following season he scored 18 goals from 44 appearances

Take yourself to that football ground
he is gonna sign for my local team in Cyprus, Apollon Limassol.
Will he be seen as a high profile buy for the club PS?

In general terms, he's done quite well at a reasonable level in English Football, and I remember him scoring some cracking strikes for Forest a few years back. He's still probably got quite a lot to offer at only 30, so I can imagine him being a good buy.

There are a few good Cypriot sides (APOEL, Famagusta) that I've seen, and the standard of the top few appears to be quite decent, so it's not that surprising a deal, but yeah, I think you've got a skillful, if slightly inconsistent striker on your hands when he comes.

I remember playing MLS in CM 01/02 during the WC 2002. Agogo depeloped into quite a handy player and I had Robbie Baggio playing behind him. Good times, good times...

Agogo clinches Cyprus deal
By Ibrahim Sannie
BBC Sport

Agogo is hoping to win back his place in the Black Stars squad
Ghana striker Junior Agogo has moved to Cyprus and signed for local giants Apollon Limassol.

The 30-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year contract on Wednesday.

Agogo's new deal follows an acrimonious exit from Egyptian club Zamalek.

Agogo told BBC Sport that he is hopeful of a quick return to the national team following his new deal.

The lack of a club saw him dropped from the Black Stars squad.

"It is a very good opportunity for me to get things back together after my disappointment with Zamalek," Agogo said on Wednesday.

"I've been through a very hard time and now is the time to get all those troubles behind me and concentrate.

"Apollon are one of the big teams here in Cyprus and I've seen the desire from the club to win titles this season.

"I'll contribute in making this happen and I'm sure that will also help me to quickly get my fitness to return to the national team."

Agogo joined Zamalek in July last year from English club Nottingham Forest but fell out with the Cairo club seven months later over huge fines imposed on him.

Since then he lost his Black Stars place even though he is still the joint leading scorer with Matthew Amoah in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers with four goals apiece.

Rest in piece. Suffered a stroke in 2015 and struggled with his health.
Maybe there would be a good idea to have a thread for deaths of lesser known football players. Maybe posters want to comment or share a memory on a player they know of but don't feel comfortable creating a specific thread.

Why do strokes vary so much, it seems some can recover from them without any issue but others go to the other extreme and remain in a vegetative state? What exactly leads an individual going from one extreme to another?

Sad news, only 40 years old. Sorry for the megabump, but wasn't sure if it warranted a new thread.
Definitely warrants a new thread!

RIP to a great athlete and thoughts with his family and friends.

Agree, it's terrifying. Seems so unfair and it's something that a lot of focus should be on imo, within society I mean.

Degrees on the length of time the stroke is left untreated.

I’m sure you’ve seen the adverts re. “FAST” being F - Face, A - Arms, S - Speech and T - Time.

It really is crucial it gets treated quickly. There’s two kinds of stroke and around 85% is due to “ischaemia” so basically look at it like a clot in the brain and because of that, there’s insufficient blood supply to the brain meaning less oxygen. All depends on which part of the brain the clot is in too as obviously different parts of the brain relate to different parts and functions of the body.

Speaking re. Agogo - I remember I became a fanboy of him while watching the African Cup of Nations a few years back when I was scouting Manucho after we signed for him. Seemed like an unit of a man.

RIP.

Used to always see his name on the vidiprinter in the old days on Soccer Saturday, his Bristol Rovers record was better than 1 in 3. Did o.k at Forest aswell. Didn't realise he also did really well for Ghana in 2008 AFCON (remember watching a few games that year and can remember Essien scoring a long range screamer in I think the opening game).

Didn't realise he had a stroke four years ago, sad end for someone who only turned 40 a few weeks ago. R.I.P.
