Would have loved him at his peak, still think he could do a short term job to guide us through choppy waters. He’s a right place at the right time sort of striker, something we glaringly lack.

If we are to go down the route of an ageing striker then Vardy would be my first choice. Age doesn’t yet appear to have caught up with him.
Not just the right place right time, but his hold up play and linking up is much better than what we have. It would help with our lack of leadership too bringing in a genuine world class striker that knows how to win things.

But I don't see this going anywhere and assume he's just getting a new contract.

He'd still be the "proper" focal point striker we could do with, and he'd still be pretty good, but you have to think this sort of signing would go against all the noises now coming from the club.

Don't think we're in a position to make a signing like this. Players of his age, profile and wage should be signed as the final piece of the jigsaw.

Win a title in 2 seasons and write off the final two seasons of his contract.

we will be linked with every well known player looking to move or in search of a new contract. I hope we sort out business out earlier as it will be a long summer with players being linked. For the record I see no validity in this link at all. I think it's lazy journalism connecting 2 known big clubs with money looking to strengthen.

I think he will be an inspired signing. He is one of the fittest players in his 30s, similar to Ronaldo and Zlatan in fitness levels. He has good 2,3 years in him. But if we are to sign him, the fee should not exceed 30,35m and also we should only give him 2 year contract extendable to 3 years. Lewa along with Sancho or even Pepe will transform our attack.

I think Lewandowski and Sanchez are a little bit different for those drawing comparison. Sanchez was absolute garbage in his last season with Arsenal. And when we bought him, he was already on the decline. Lewi on the other hand, has still managed to score 22 goals in the league and his numbers have been pretty consistent for the most part. Lewi for 25m may not be a bad punt and Pepe would definitely bolster our attack. I'm not convinced with Martial and Rashford manning the LW for us either. I would like us to invest on that side as well (maybe next summer) since we've got other pressing concerns to address.

This is classic agent work, he wants to stay at Bayern on a multi year extension, Bayern only want to offer him a 1 yr extension. They will resolve this and he'll stay.

Is he really that good? His scoring record isn't very impressive
He's OK but Jovic and Werner might not be gettable... So I think he might be a player ready to explode on a bigger stage who is a realistic target. Plenty of credible sources linking us to him

Werner is actually gettable. Leipzig plan on selling him and he's a United fan too. As long as we can sell our project of rebuilding the team and he would be one of the starters, I think he would come to United.

Hope not, maybe 3 years ago yes. Not now. Think there's better options out there.

In the Bundesliga where Bayern are regularly putting 4-5 past teams. Completely different in the premier league and I think it speaks volumes that Bayern only want to give him 1 year.

This may not be a signing like Sanchez but even if it’s like Ibra it’s a fix for a couple of years - would much prefer a younger striker that we could depend on for 5 years +

This is the more likely outcome, if teams of Ramos all over again

Why go for him when the club can get Robben and Ribery on a free anyway

I don't think he's suited to the PL and I'm not even sure he's good enough. I certainly wonder why we are suddenly looking at a forward in his 30s when we tend to only give one-year contracts to current players who are that "old". I't a "no" from me

Sign him up from Pogba's transfer fee and we can bypass the midfield altogether and still win the league.

Weird bump and got excited for a moment.

Then saw that nothing happened but reading the posts, you gotta love Caf. Mostly people not wanting him cause the ship has sailed. Since then, he has been the best player in the world and scored 103 goals. One more than Rashford, Martial and Greenwood combined.

But you know, he will be 31 soon. :)

I would not rule it out at all

we're going to need a CF next season (22/23) and despite the transfer gods smiling on us this window it's hard to believe we'll be the lucky recipients of Haaland next summer so Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Kane they're all going to be the ones we'll have to be looking at

Not the time the thread was created. Most of the replies are talking about him like he's finished, there's even a Bayern fan saying "you can have him".

Funny we have a 34-year-old Cavani as our main striker now.

Nah, I don’t want yet another stop gap signing. Time to start thinking about the long term. We’re Man Utd at the end of the day. Also got a feeling he’d get found out trying to play in our system.
