He’s not really vocal or the commanding type, being a captain doesn’t really suit him.
He should be pissed off at conceding that goal whilst he stood rooted to a he spot as per. He has been well below par for 12 months or so and isn’t making those great saves on the line anymore, whilst being stuck on his line when he should be doing far more. He was awful for the latter end of last season and not a great deal better this. Resting on his laurels when we are trying to inject some dynamism into the team isn’t helping us get back to where we want to be. We have excellent alternatives in Sheffield and the bench if he wants to throw a tantrum.Yep. We noticed this as well. All singing his name in the Stretford End and he just stormed off without even as much as a glance which is completely unlike him.
I just assumed he might be pissed off at conceding but it was still out of character.
Huh?He was stripped of the captaincy after a major training ground bust up.
According to the Sun on Tuesday next week.
I almost bit as well.Huh?
PS: Damn white text!
Not just about instruction. What about complaining to the ref? Only Captain is allowed to speak directly into his face without getting a yellow card. While a Club captain might get some privileges such as a director box, the Captain being useful on the pitch is much more important. i.e. it is a responsibility, not a reward.Keepers shouldn't be captains. They're not in position to give other players instructions.
Best player does not equal good captain. And even him being the best player is debatable, hes not been himself since the WC.Surprised at all of the negativity towards the OP. It's a perfectly reasonable question and I agree that it's a very odd move.
De Gea may not be a natural leader but he's been the best player at the club by a distance over the last 6 or 7 years. He deserves the captaincy more than a player who has been at the club for 5 minutes and still has a lot to prove.
Neuer, Schmeichel, Van der Sar, Kahn, Buffon, Casillas and Lloris have proven otherwise. De Gea could become more commanding if given the responsibility though.Keepers shouldn't be captains. They're not in position to give other players instructions.
I wouldn't point to De Gea as being a natural leader, and to be honest, there is no one else at the club more suitable than Maguire, so I would be 100% behind this choice. What is the story here? I thought that he is vice captain? I would be pissed if i am him. 8 years in this club, best player for years and now he lost it because of player who is here 3 months. I am sure that Harry is great character and leader but still....not right thing to do
The best captain is someone who can inspire his teammates and is a player his teammates look to, to make a major difference when the game is on the line.Best player does not equal good captain. And even him being the best player is debatable, hes not been himself since the WC.
