You are aware that he has scored 2 goals in his last 4 or 5 games right ?

I'll be disappointed if he doesn't at least get 5. With the amount of headers he wins from corners, he honestly should be getting double figures.

I think he'll get 8-10 goals and have another good season.

Actually I'll go one step further and say he'll be our player of the season..

Why does everyone keep thinking that Maguire can score loads of goals. He has got 2/3 a season all his career hasn't he? Unless Im wrong. Even the pundits keep saying he will score more goals etc. But he doesn't. Yes he's got a big head and can get on the end of crosses but he is absolutely sht at putting it in the back of the net. Its one of the great myths that Maguire can be a high scoring CB.

So to answer the question from corners it will be 0, 1, 2 or max 3. Probably 0, 1

I’d like to think so seen as though we’ve got a new set piece coach who has been brought in specifically to help with this aswell as defending them which we was also bad at last season. We have the players who can cross in a ball with shaw and Fernandes.

He'll be our top scorer this season.

He's taking over penalty duties from Fernandes.

I'm sure he'll chip in with some - as he's done in his other seasons here (3, then 2). But, given his ability to win headers, and a powerful long shot, then, in a full season of 50/60 games, he should be getting 5 or 6. He's got about a goal every 10 games in 4 of his seasons elsewhere, and he should be capable of doing that here with the amount of chances he gets from set pieces.

His header from the corner against Everton last week was fantastic. If we keep Shaw fit to put corners in I’m sure he’ll score some.

Maguire and Varane will score 10 between them this season and you can quote me on that
I hope so. They're both good in the air and we do have a few players that can put in a cross (Shawberto, Bruno, Rashy, Paul, Sancho, even Mason and AWB).
5 each them across all comps is decent return. Of course you can't really hold not scoring goals against a CB as long as they do their defending duties up to standard. But all good CBs had goals in them (Terry, Ramos, Vidic).

Then you have Ferdinand, probably the best defender of the lot, who clearly didn't get the memo and scored 8 goals in 450 games!

I always thought Vidic should have scored more considering how excellent he was at winning headers. Maguire takes it to a different level though

Yes and inexplicably in multiple games either consecutively, or at least very close together, and not again for at least 12 months.

I had him in FPL team for ages last year for when he started scoring the corners. Never happened. Can’t waste a utd spot on him but once he finds his range he’s going back in for Greenwood who’ll probably be back to being rotated soon again anyway

He seems to up his heading game this season.

And also, that new set piece coach, we're on to something.

I think he will be the highest scoring centreback in the league. He should have scored loads already and he will get that big mellon on the end of a few this season.

I think the most puzzling was Jaap Stam - he scored 12 in 76 matches for PSV - and then scored 6 goals combined for us, Lazio, Milan and Ajax in about 220 games. How he only scored once for us, I still don't understand. Mal Donaghy was another strange one - he didn't score once for us in 89 matches, then he goes to Chelsea at the age of 34 - and scores 3 times in his first 4-5 games for them :)

But I think Pallister and Bruce showed that how tall you are and how good you are at winning headers defensively, doesn't mean that much when it comes to scoring goals. Pallister hardly ever scored - 12 goals in 8-9 seasons for us, and as I recall - about half of those goals werent even headers. Bruce wasn't quick, not very tall - but he was ruthless in the box. 38 goals for Gillingham, 21 goals for Norwich and 51 goals for United. Over 100 goals for a defender is simply insane - even if maybe 20-25 of those goals were penalties.

Yep. You're right.
Still, I hope you read the sentence before that.

Now he will have Varane going up as well who has a better than Lindelof chance of scoring, so maybe less marking on Harry!
