It'll never happen, will it?
No. 19 in the league currently sitting on 3 points after 7 games.

It’s mathematically possible

The could be so far behind before January, new players could not save them. They could also start winning right now against mid table and lower teams.

Very unlikely. I actually think Bruce would have kept them up with the current squad with no investment, 15th or 16th but they would be there especially once Wilson is fit. I am certain now that they will get themselves a proven goalscorer in the next window to make sure they score enough to stay up and then go for a more significant overhaul in the summer. Nice to dream though.

It would be fantastic if they went down, but they’ll buy in the January window to ensure they don’t.

Would be awesome but highly unlikely. Even without the takeover, I feel they would have done enough to stay up.

I hope so but nah, they’ll stay up even without investment. Maybe they’ll do a QPR, sign a bunch of dross to stay up but fail miserably

I like having Newcastle in the Premiership, but I would loooooove to see the Saudi investment condemned to a season in the shadow of the EPL.

Nah, even if they're bottom of the league by January they will bring in so many good players that I can't see any real possibility of them being relegated. They'll probably have a good manager in before the end of international break too. It would be funny if they got relegated though

Yeah. Think it's more likely that they won't even come close to it but there's definitely a chance regardless of how much they spend.

Hopefully Bruce gets to his 1000th game in charge as Newcastle manager, before they bring in a manager...who promptly gets them relegated

Who can they even realistically buy in January anyway?
Loads of options but assuming relegation is still a serious possibility come January then I think loans would be a good idea. Loads of players on high wages that aren't playing much for their teams but would be reluctant to move permanently to a team that if things went wrong but be stuck in the Championship for a year.

Realistically I think they have up to 190m under ffp... no doubt will have a bundle of aramco sponsorship and will probably look to use loans as well but players who could sign a pre contract for free could likley be brought in a few months early for a relativley small fee

These are all available on pre contracts

Onnana
Aurier
Marcello
Ginter
Zagadou
zakaria
kessie
Isco
Insinge
Belotti
Bale

They won't get all obviously but I fully expect them to be active in January and to bring in a few players ... couthino is linked a lot I see

It could happen unless they spend decent money in January. The inevitability of their entire squad being shipped in the summer is hardly going to spur the players on to fight for safety, nor their manager for that matter.

The whole league will be desperate for that to happen now. Would be absolutely hilarious.

Relegation wouldn't hurt them even if they didn't get took over.

They would comfortably return in a sesson on 'reward' money alone.

Would be hilarious, even more than the other two relegations they had in last 12 years.

More chance if they keep Steve Bruce for another two months but you suspect they'll sack him early next week. Their next 3 fixtures are Spurs and Chelsea at home and Palace away so wouldn't be a shock if they didn't win any of them and then suddenly it's 0 wins in first 10 games with an average squad and you're pretty much locked in a relegation battle all season regardless of what happens in January.

Absolutely, if they don't get 5 points in the next 4 games they'll be adrift, and will players want to go to Newcastle with them close to the bottom in the new year

They'll probably sign a few on loan. Any time managed by Harry Redknapp in the past in relegation fight usually gets in decent and big name players mid season, QPR went down with likes of Julio Cesar, Cisse and Loic Remy didn't they?
