Surely there has to be more context to this? Cos on the face of it that is absolutely ridiculous.Tweet

There is no important story.. It was a joke between the fans of the two teams. The Jordanians said we will eat you like our traditional dish, when they scored they celebrated with sitting down and eating. When iraq scored they did the same (i, e we will also eat you).. It is nothing more than innocent football banter, no political or social signals at all.Surely there has to be more context to this? Cos on the face of it that is absolutely ridiculous.
Just seen they got knocked out with 2 goals in the last 2 minutes too.
I don’t normally approve of teams walking off if they disagree with a refs decision… it’s usually part and parcel of the game…Tweet

Saudi will best Korea. They are too on form. They even beat Argentina in the world cup, prompting Cristiano to join the Saudi league.
Has an urgent appointment in the embassy no doubt.South Korea go through on penalties. Mancini who I totally forgot was Saudi Arabia manager, walked down the tunnel way before the last kick was taken
I can't believe it... 4 games, 4 mistakes. This one was 50% down to the defender, but Zion still had two chances to catch the ball there. His hands must be made out of jello. He also seems to insist on punching the ball when there's plenty of time to catch it.I really hope that Zion Suzuki has been removed from our scouts' radar now. 3 games, 3 big mistakes directly leading to a goal. It's not like he has had much to do either. Surely the highest mistakes per involvement ratio I've seen from a professional goalkeeper.
Have always lacked a decent striker. Generations of wonderful AMs and wingers but never a forward. I do wonder how Furuhashi would have fared in this tournament? Mosdt teams in in the Asian Cup are probably Scottish leauge standards.Jesus Christ, Japan are so wasteful. They lead 3-1, but they could have scored 10. So many 2 on 1 situations and even alone vs the goalkeeper.
Bro that was crazy - we should have buried them with so many wasted chances. Super lucky to go through. Big blow losing Tarami. Not sure what the rules are around him appearing again should we somehow get passed Japan. Anyways, congrats! This is the best Asian Cup I can remember since 2004 one in China (farcial refereeing 20 years ago apart).
So much drama, upsets, and last minute goals and comebacks.
If there are no crazy upsets tomorrow, this is the QF brackets we're looking at:
Jordan - Tajikistan
Australia - Korea
Qatar - Uzbekistan
Iran -Japan
If only their finishing was up to the task in the remaining parts of the game.Iran through after 5 more or less perfect penalties.
Iran's best striker is suspended so maybe that evens things out. But Zion has made blunders against 4 weaker teams than Iran, so I wouldn't bet on it.Japan should be the clear favorites but their keeper is quite suspect so who knows.
Japan has the benefit of being more fresh and not having any major injuries or suspensions, I wouldn't be surprised to see them coast again iran but you never know really, should be an interesting game to watch.Iran's best striker is suspended so maybe that evens things out. But Zion has made blunders against 4 weaker teams than Iran, so I wouldn't bet on it.

Thought exactly the same haha.So now I get why Suzuki was high on Ten Hags wishlist. He is just a worse and younger version of Onana.

Hope it stays like this, I’ve got bets on draw after 90 min for all the remaining Asian Cup and AFCON playoffsSouth Korea struggling against Jordan. Lucky to not have conceded yet.
EDIT: penalty awarded to South Korea just as I wrote that
EDIT 2: will be overturned? Yes.
