Ah that sucks, he was a true great of the game. One where you watch his old gsmes and think he would piss it in this day and age.

RIP

Extraordinary player, me being argie I've suffered in the WC90 final one of the best penalty executions ever in a decisive instance, pure perfection. RIP

He'd absolutely skoosh it. Could play on either side, world-class off both feet, could come inside or overlap.

Some temperament on him as well. Scored or set up 6 out of West Germany's 10 goals in the knockout stages of the 1986 and 1990 World Cups.

Plus he was a very good defender and a tough player to beat for any era, which can be considered as a big bonus for a full-back in this era(offensive-fullback( both inverted or overlapping) meta).

Damn one of my heroes. Played his position and loved to try everything he did. He was brilliant. RIP

RIP.

Sky here in Italy of course had to have Bergomi talk about him a bit and damn he was devastated. Apparently talked with him 10 days ago, were supposed to meet this week, and instead this...

Is the cause of death known?

Heart failure in his sleep.

Being left-footed and taking a WC final penalty with your right-foot. That´s true swag.

Kind of young for our current era, but at least he had perhaps one of the few "less bad " deaths.

Swag and I liked I've said above, pure perfection, that penalty was precise as hell.

He could also play as midfielder. Pretty sure Guardiola would hire him and deploy him as RB, LB, CB, CDM or Box2Box in different matches.
