England Discussion

"He's doing well but I'm still just going to pick all my favourites even though they're playing much worse. I'm too scared to pick players who can pass forward." Is how that reads.
That's unfair on Southgate ,Mainoo is a special talent but we have only seen glimpses of his talent though I am being pedantic here but at senior level he hasn't yet shown much in terms of passing range and ball progression .

As he gets more and more comfortable hopefully we would get to see all the aspects of his game and if Southgate still ignores him then Southgate would warrant criticism .

You realize you're making my point for me right
Nope. All big fat no’s. Don’t know where this bizarre perception of Southgate comes from that seems to be permeating externally; he’s a poor manager doing very little with a lot at a very favourable time when most nations are shadows of themselves.

No, you are spouting insanity here. Englad is great, it's not special. It's not 1970 Brazil. Stop acting like not winning with this england team should automatically be a failure.

France is still better, deeper, more talented than England, in case you missed it

Finally somebody talking sense .

You named one nation... and even then, a good coach would expect to give them a very good game. Man for man, the gulfs no longer exist, or they certainly don’t at the moment, anyway.

Remind me, how did that game went in the last world cup? I seem to remember england missing a penalty to send it to extra time after being on top of France for a big chunk of the game....

And it's not one team. France is the one that is pretty clearly better. You also have Germany and Portugal sending comparable talent, and the former will be at home, plus Spain, Netherlands and Belgium who while not as good are still good enough to beat anyone on a good day.

Again, this England team is NOT 1970 Brazil. Expecting triumph from this team as if it should be a given is stark raving lunacy

I’m not going to go back and forth over Southgate, of all people. He’s a terrible manager and an irresponsible one at that. England, for once, have a pool of players that place them above major nations and should be expectant of winning trophies, just as those other major nations were when they had the juice.

Weak managers like Southgate always develop 'favourites' in the team. This is because they need to be surrounded by trusted comrades who reassure them about their position of authority. Him flying off to Ajax to watch Henderson, as well as past team selections illustrate this. Can't believe the FA want to give him another contract, proof they don't actually give a sh*t about winning anything.

united don’t deserve to be managed by the moral victor of the last two major international tournaments.

Can you imagine his football week in week out
You listen to some on here, anything is better to ETH. If Southgate does somehow find himself at OT as manager, plenty in our support, will get what they deserve. Unfortunately for the majority of us, we'll have to endure another manager failing.

The Caf reaction to us being linked to anyone English is always hysterical. The overwhelming majority who didn't want us signing Rice look stupid now, that's just an example I'm throwing out to show that English players arent always judged on their merits - there is an assumption that we are biased towards English so the Caf reaction pushes hard the other way.

But, Southgate. feck off like. Do not want.

This is all being driven by Ogden's piece, which means it can be safely discarded.

And I can't think of anything worse either.

So I guess our approach and style of play will be to load up on talented forwards and then play three of them with 7 defensive players?

I disagree with your post. It's true that many people didn't want Rice but even Arsenal fans were on the fence about him when they were signing him, many wanted Caicedo over him. Nothing to do with him being English.

When we signed Sancho no one was annoyed about the signing, everyone on the caf wanted Bellingham, everyone would want us to sign Watkins/Toney right now, etc...

Think I’d generally just give up with football if he gets appointed. I mean the fact he’s even linked along with Potter is a worry in itself.

Haha careful what you wish for Caftards! The schadenfreude of this change would be delicious, as would the salty tears and total meltdown.

Surely you'd be following ten Hag to his next club instead of sticking around to watch the fallout?

Expected. If the FA were to replace him, it would be announced already long time ago. I think they let the final decision in whether Southgate still had motivation or not.

On a separate note, is this the first time England have the best team on the planet? Only France comes close.
