Maybe if this was an isolated incident but he has a history of spitting at children so multiple cases of unacceptable behaviour warrants him being sacked.
The vacuum part is irrelevent - even if it's a show based on "banter", crossing that line should rightfully be noted and discussed - which is what happened here.
As for calls for him to being sacked, they are (from this thread alone) marginal at best (how many posters actually said this?), so if your point regarding an "overreaction" relate only to this... then no, there hasn't in general been an overreaction.

Yeah the show is deliberately contrived for social media engagement. Only a matter of time before someone went too far and it was always going to be Carragher.

Every clip I see of that American soccer show with Michah Richards and Kate Abdo is some silly banter between whoever is on.
I doubt it, I doubt there’s even a shred of truth in it. It was probably just the first thing that popped into Jamie’s little mind and he thought it would sound funny so he went for it.
Having watched it, I can't come to any other conclusion than the immediate dismissal of Micah Richards

Pretty weird to say something like that if there is no truth in it. If you're going to try and make a joke like that, it has to be true, and the audience needs to know about the cheating that took place. It would still be inappropriate to say if it were true, but I could understand it in that scenario.
I guess that's the end of him trying to be funny on TV.
