Who's back from injuries for this? Cas? Licha? Shaw?

I know this will be criticised but I’d happily play this. There’s something about Antony, it think he’d play well centrally. Actually scored a goal from a central position. Bruno plays well from deep too. We’ve allowed either Dalot or AWB to drift inside for an extra midfield body previously. I think we’d play well like this. Perfect opposition too.

    AWB Varane Maguire Dalot

    Mainoo Bruno

    Garnacho Antony Rashford

    Hojlund

It would be just like United to cock it up at 15th place Brentford in their Cup Final. I'm a cup half full sort of bloke, but so many times we've 'turned the corner' only to be slapped down again. Let's see which players make through the International break unscathed first.

This is what we have usually observed so i don't think you're wrong in being slightly pessimistic. We never build on a big result or a series of 3-4 wins.

Reguilon, Henry, Mee and Hendry all injured/suspended. Their defence is as lacking as ours has been for most of the season.

They've lost 15 of their last 20 games.

We should have a much fitter squad ready to go.

    1-0 Brentford.
    Nice jinx, we'll get a 2-0, 2 pens like Everton :p

Time to give Antony a start to see if he can captalize on that positive showing.

He is a lot more effective when he has a freer role: switching flanks, doubling up with the other winger, etc. It's got to be controlled but he's got to be less predictable and some of that is to do with having flexibility in the set up.

Will Martinez be available for this? If he is I still don’t think he’ll start. Maybe make the bench. No need to rush him back, we have Maguire in form and Varane.

Even if he got 20mins it would be great

If we want to go anywhere in the table, there really are no excuses with this one, but we usually find a way to make away games difficult no matter what. The team picks itself really.

    Onana
    Dalot - Lindelof - Varane - Wan-Bissaka
    Casemiro - Mainoo
    Garnacho - Bruno - Rashford
    Højlund

If Casemiro is still out, it would have to be McTominay. Even with Martinez back, I'd sub him on towards the end to get some minutes, rather than starting him. If we can field this team, I'd actually be relatively confident going in.
Any reason Lindelof over Maguire? When the latter had an absolutely barnstorming performance v Liverpool.

It will depend on the international break and the players fit, but we should go with the best team possible for this one.

    ---------------------------------------------------Onana--------------------------------------------------
    Dalot---------------------------Varane--------------------Lisandro----------Wan Bissaka
    ---------------------------------Mount--------Mainoo--------------------------------
    Garnacho-----------------------------------Bruno--------------------------------------Rashford
    -------------------------------------------------Hojlund---------------------------------------------------
Maybe swap in Mount, but that the side I'd like to see. Amad is suspended, Antony and McTominay can come on as subs, Martinez starts, maybe Maguire comes in as a late sub for him.

I happen to be near Brentford on this date, any idea how I could get a ticket without paying insane prices? Would freaking love to go - huge match for us.

Probably as close to the side that beat Liverpool as possible.

Casemiro has a chance to start if fit. Potentially have a few more players on the bench with improved fitness like Mount, or could have Evans & Martial in the squad at least.

I reckon it'll be too soon for Martinez, Shaw, and Malacia. Amad suspended.

Impossible unless you find home end tickets

I like us to try an Eriksen, Mainoo, Fernandes midfield. Eriksen been moaning about game time, he’ll offer us plenty of control next to the likes of Mainoo.

We have our first casualty from internationals as maguire has returned back to Carrington due to injury. Really hoping it’s nothing big and he can be on the bench for brentford. We need our back line fit, especially maguire who’s been immense. I don’t trust Varane fitness and Licha would be a risk for a couple of GWs at least.

I expect a couple more players to be injured before the Brentford game. Our players are dropping like flies. And we seem to be a in a perennial injury crisis

Another fecking 8pm Saturday KO.. I think this is the 4th one if not its the 3rd ..
Its the shittiest ko time. Hojlund available may have Licha back big plus . AWB is a plus as Dalot can go at left back, with every other left back out.
Mainoo and Mctom CM again I think unless Casimero is fit? Hoping we turn up we need the 3pts..

Brentford are in free fall and it’s between them and Forest to make up the bottom three along with Sheffield Utd and Luton.
I do hope Forest go down but Utd must win this and win convincingly, in fact we need a damn good run in to stop these ridiculous rumours of that pizza salesman coming to OT.
Come on Eric show us you are capable of at least another season. 1-3Utd.

Have we actually won any of these Saturday night kick off games?

We won the ones against Burnley and Sheffield United.
I always get the impression elite players are not comfortable playing football in late kick offs but maybe our pampered lot prefer it as it gives them excuse not to come in the next day for training/debrief of the previous game?

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Antony start here considering Garna’s match against Costa Rica in LA will finish around 5:00 AM tomorrow.

Yeah, I was checking when the later matches were playing and was gutted to see that Argentina is pretty much the last match - ending, like you say, early Wednesday morning our time.

This is one of those times (after international weeks) when being switched to a Sunday isn't a bad thing as your players get extra recovery time. Playing on a Saturday (albeit night), I wouldn't be surprised to see Garnacho be used as a sub and a fresher player like Antony given a start. It would probably make sense to avoid any risks to Garnacho.

I think it's more likely he starts, plays a blinder with several goals and assists, then we see a tweet from his brother bigging him up, saying how he got back in England very late and didn't train
