Just to end this debate: Yes Southgate would make us worse and so would anyone else of those non world class managers being rumored. Make it work with Eric and the new directors behind him.

France - can't win anything with Swedish turnips
    Atrocious performance.
    Defending was horrendous
Lindelof can't defend and is so weak - just heads the ball two yards back to the opposition or runs away so we're constantly under pressure which sets the tone for the match.
But no-one played well. Rashford and McTominay may as well have stayed at home and Garnacho had a real off day.

I missed the first 15 minutes, but from that point on, we were completely outplayed and dominated by Brentford.
At no point did we exert any dominance or have any periods of control, whatsoever.

Everytime we lost possession, or our build-up play in the Brentford half broke down, they just cut through our non-existent midfield, or open flanks and we’re in on goal within seconds.
Utd lost nearly every one-on-one, almost all the physical tussles and nearly every 50:50 ball.

Brentford by contrast had movement all over the park.
Players constantly drifting into clear space to receive passes and the anticipation shown by their players, was off the scale at times.
But for poor finishing and a lot of bad luck, Brentford should have racked up a cricket score tonight.

I was surprised Garnacho played at all having played two internationals on the other side of the world this week.

When Mount came on, I had a sneaky feeling he’d be the one to nick it for us.
Tragic that his moment was dampened by our inability to close the game down with just minutes of injury time to play.

We seem to be generally agreed that our performance was awful.

Then how have you lot come up with an average of 4.5 out of 10 in the post match ratings ?

How did Brentford manage to play football despite having injuries? I thought that was an impossible ask
Maybe we should give Thomas Frank a chance he’s outplayed ETH in every game in the PL but then again so has De Zerbie and even Eddie Howe, these are the coaches he should be dominating and he has 1 lucky win , 1 super lucky win and 1 decent cup win in 13 games 3 wins against managers who are suppose to be a level just below. He’s lost 3 to de Zerbie, 3 to Eddie Howe and A 4-0 thrashing to Frank and tonight should have. ETH supporters explain his diabolical record head to head time and time again against certain managers, everyone in the EPL seems to have his number!

Jesus 31 shots again, he must be sacked this summer, we should be all over Naigelsman already and making moves to have him start straight after Euros.

Let’s hope Omar Berrada is making moves already. I said if he makes CL and wins the cup he should stay but let’s be honest with ETH in charge that’s a pipe dream ?

That was utter dross. No energy, spirit or passion to play for the shirt. Can’t put that all down to the manager, if the players can’t be arsed to even run then I don’t know what he can do about it. Pleased for Mount, and his celebration showed how much it meant for him.

Probably the most abject performance since our last visit to Brentford

Woeful and so second best for so much of the game. Don’t know where to start really….

    We don't deserve it.
Completely agree, we've been unbelievably bad pretty much all season and we're lucky to be 6th.

I'm not one for knee jerk manager decisions but I just don't see how he can hold on to the job. Given the performances he probably deserves to lose it too.

A new manager can’t solve the deficiencies of many of those Utd players.
Too many of them, no matter what skills they possess, are physically and mentally weak, slow and incapable of tackling, winning physical tussles, being resistance to being robbed or bullied off the ball..
They just can’t (and won’t in a couple of cases) put in the determined effort needed to wrest control of games from spirited, energetic teams like Brentford.
I can’t see any new manager getting this present bunch to turn those deficiencies around, without major squad surgery.

Missed the first 15 minutes, ffs.
I wish I missed the first 92 and the last 3, an atrocious performance absolute dog shite I can only put it down to meaningless internationals.

The biggest surprise today is the fact that 80% of the redcafe voters expected a United win. Around 50% expected a two goal margin win. It's incredible really given our performances this season.

An absolutely fantastic point, honestly. Brentford manhandled us in every single aspect of the game.

After the way we were dominated, I’d gladly take a point. Didn’t deserve anything from the game so will take that.

The scary thing was - this performance imo was worse than the one where we lost 4-0. First of all - every goalscorer in that game was absent from the starting line-up - second, in that game we weren't dominated like yesterday, we just gave away silly chances and they took them. If Brentford had been as efficient yesterday as they were in the 4-0 game - we could have lost by 8

They would do better if they actually passed the ball to each other and not the opposition. Rashford was appalling again. EtH 'let's surrender midfield and hit them on the break' tactics, if you can call them that, will get us nowhere. Chelsea and Scousers next with more injuries. Not looking good, again.

Whoever is doing the Line up table records, needs to include Martinez as having played as a Sub. I had him as a Sub in my predicted line up!

And thus we should bring back Moyes???
So just because I suggest that I have a hard time finding a P.L manager who would do worse with United than ETH has - that means I suggest we should replace him with Moyes ?

My point was - if the people in charge have a close to average knowledge of football, they can find 30 managers who will make us look better than ETH does. Either our players don't listen to his instructions or his instructions are insane - regardless, he needs to go after this season

The last time we had a disheartening performance away to Brentford, a 4-0 defeat, we played Liverpool at home next and won 2-1.

Would quite happily take a similar result on Sunday.

He deserves sacking for telling Rashford “just stroll around in a five yard square all game”.

    Awful tactics!

    This.

Ten Hag has been really poor this season, there’s no denying it, but this squad is better than they’ve showed… too many goals/games lost against sides who simply TRIED more. It’s the absolute minimum of any professional sportsperson and too many walk, don’t chase, throw their arms up, moan, are selfish.

We’re nowhere near the top three but a top attitude/effort would have at least seen us challenge Villa and Spurs.

And the most frustrating thing is we know they can do it… the Liverpool game showed that.

Ten Hag selections, subs, tactics are an issue… player mentality is another.

Im sure Ratcliffe wants to avoid rush decisions but he really needs a cull this summer. I’d rather have 7/10 players who give total effort… I can support them, I can’t support good (on paper) players who are wimpy.

Then why bring Moyes into this?

I agree ETH has to go, but it’s clear as can be that the greater problem is the players themselves. Rashford shows up when it suits him, Bruno is careless with the ball, Sancho imploded as a professional footballer and Antony is useless.
