What is the midfield set up though? We are so exposed, so much space between Case Mainoo and Bruno

Got to get Amad or Antony on soon IMO. Give Garnacho 10 mins maybe and if he hasn't bucked up then move aside.

Well that's been something to watch. Started off trying to be swashbuckling, and then ran out of steam after twenty minutes or so, when it became clear that nothing was happening.

Rashford for once seems arsed and trying, which is worse in a way because he's still completely infective once Liverpool settle down. Still just runs in a straight line into whatever defender is waiting for him most of the time.

Case started ok but ran out of energy very quickly and now Midfield doesn't exist. Even Hojlund is starting to look like he isn't putting in the full effort anymore. Jogging much of the time where he used to be busting a gut to get in a good position.

Ten Hag is the only winner on our side, with Liverpool refusing to hit shots on target, he won't need to worry about his job when it finishes 0-3. That's a level of dross United are fine with these days.

The whole team has given up, everyone knows that Ten Hag is a gone in the summer so they don't even try anymore.
Having watched them come back against Liverpool 2 weeks ago, come back against Chelsea (albeit throw it away again) it's obvious they haven't given up.

    Welcome to Manchester reception committee
I just can't imagine the instructions they're being given. It's like there is a plan, they keep moving into these shapes that look like a tactics board, I think they're trying to do what they're told positionally.

But it's like the defence and midfield do all their planning with still photos and don't watch the video of what happens next.

Can't believe we are still in this game, Pool are shockingly (and thankfully) wasteful.
Only 1 goal, Bradley red card e.g. could totally change this game, they will go to pieces if we score I think.

We need to shoot first though!

It is hit it into the space behind.

Blame Bruno for the execution, blame the idiot in charge for persisting with this nonsense.
How do we know that’s what he’s telling them to do? Casemiro does above 3/4 passes a game like that. Pretty sure it isn’t the same tactics every single match against different opponent. Bruno’s had space where he could have delayed the pass, maybe it’s a case of not trusting his forwards to stay onside.

This performance is worse than the 7-0. At least we looked like trying in that game.

Needs to go to the 3-4-1-2 we adopted in the cup game. Liverpool are blocking the wings very well and running past our single pivot at will. We need to pack the centre area and attack down the center.

14 shots to 0.. that says it all.. this bunch have given up.. they've done it to Jose, Ole , now ETH , maybe its about time we wake up and see wtf is happening here..

Eth I liked until he bought rubbish ..
‘this bunch have given up’ who? Who is even there from Jose’s time?

Dalot, Rashford, Shaw, Lindelof. After that I really struggle to think who has been here since Jose’s time.

Dalot is our only good player. He’s the only player in the entire team currently who has the desired mix of both athletic and technical abilities. Every other player currently has either one or the other and it shows in games like this because Liverpool don’t compromise on either very often.
That’s a decent point. There’s not enough physicality to play this way across the full 90 minutes. We played well in the first 15 minutes but then everything goes very tame.

Obvious solution is, don’t play this way. It’s a bad plan that can’t be altered.

Would be shocked if he pulled Bruno for Mount, but that won't happen, he'll get the full 90 unless were down 7-0.

The only positive I can mention is that it's only 1-0. We've offered absolutely nothing to this game and it's been very deflating.

Do you reckon if we'd had ten shots, but they were all off target, you'd all be raving about how good they were?
I agree wanking over numbers of shots/corners etc. is a waste of time, but we've had none whatsoever while they've had many decent chances and a few good ones.

It's not about the numbers, it's about what they tell us about the game. Basically we're inviting them to have plenty of shots while we have feck all, it's been dismal.

They know they’re playing Thursday nights. Nothing left to play for in the league. They will squeak a 7th place finish at most. Sack him now and let someone else have a go at the FA Cup.

Diallo in the idle and Mount on the left to get a grip here.
Rashford has been the only positive really. Some smart passing and interplay and doing a good job tracking back in circumstances where our midfield keeps being bypassed completely. if Bruno could actually pass he’d have been in at least once (there was a decent chance for Kobbie to play him through as well but would have been a tough first time pass).

Bruno has to be off though. That half was just awful. Mount on for him and Amad for Garnacho.

The defence is a joke. Don't know how communicate so you end with defenders just tracking their player all over the pitch and leaving massive gaps.

And has there ever been a player with less composure than Harry Maguire..

Would be helpful if Bruno stopped trying to find Rashford down the left. Even if more than 1 in 10 passes made it to him Rashford would still lose it.

More than anything we need to stop trying the Hollywood passes on the counter and keep the ball for a while.

Having pot shots and no shots, it's basically the same no ?
I wouldn’t say so. At least we’ve attempted to have a shot… where as we haven’t today. So like I said the worse first half I’ve seen at OT, maybe I should have said in a very long time because I remember half of LVGs first half’s ending in 0-0 and they was pretty awful.

Take Bruno and Casemiro off and put Mount and Amrabat on, I’ve had enough of seeing them give the ball virtually every time. No replacement is going to be any worse.

You've just told 70,000 match going fans that they're not supporting their team properly, the feck you doing calling anyone else a top red you clown?
They are obviously supporting the team by being there and sitting through this shite, yet much louder boos were needed like I said. If you want to get offended by the fact someone thinks we’ve tolerated mediocrity for far too long then that’s your problem snowflake.

Besides the defending, which I have come to terms with us being shit at, there's a striking difference in the way we advance the ball than say Brighton (and I choose them because they do so with perfection without spending a billion).

When watching Brighton, most of their driven passes are through the middle, to the man in space (usually the striker/AM), who then turns and links up with players around him to get the ball closer to the oppositions goal.

When we are doing the same thing we stop the build up right with Casemiro who never turns towards the oppositions goal in fear of being dispossed, but passes it back to our fullbacks who at this time have markers on them, they then pass it to Bruno who does what he always does and we loss the ball.

Never seen a team seemingly unable to get the ball to feet and turn around, and it appears Ten Haag hasn't figured out yet that our striker needs to be the one receiving the ball for us to play that way.

We know Bruno’s a good player, Covid Bruno especially shows that.

Whether it’s form or captaincy, I don’t care, he has to be dropped. The captaincy is a poor decision, I do feel it takes something away from him and it means he has even more goes at the ref (maybe thinks expected from him as captain) which surely must subconsciously impact on the ref for 50/50s.

Needs dropping and captaincy just being a choice depending on the match day XI. Let him have a break, forget captain and see if he gets back to previous form… or sell.

Mount should be on early second half for him. He won’t be...
Bruno is our very own LBJ.

0 shots in 45 mins is fecking woeful. Just in despair how rubbish this team really is. Have to be in the bottom 5 in the league for how poor we really are.

We’re getting away with a mauling because of there poor finishing. 2nd half they’ll probably score another 2

Dalot basically blocked Onana off for that goal. He wasn't on the post, he'd drifted across.

Doesn't hide the fact that Liverpool have been on a completely different level to us.
