@Šjor Bepo any info on how attacking Bossis is? For this tactic I'd expect the fullbacks to bomb forward quite a bit and I'm not completely convinced he's that sort of player.
he played the same role for france multiple times and with iniesta and specially stoichkov my left flank is probably my best weapon

Nah not really, its not an unknown tactic as u make it sound is what I meant

High press is not the same as pressing together zonally. High press did not exist 15-20 years ago.

Teams did press zonally before that as well in groups without all 10 outfield players being involved, A few pressed and a few repositioned themselves based on where the play was

You are a bastard at times to debate against but that is acceptable. These revenge voting shenanigans are not, am sorry.
no idea about that but if true thats standard in drafts, we all have few that always vote against

Two most interesting teams in the draft for me. Both throwbacks to different degrees. Both impeccably executed and the player fits are gorgeous.

Entertaining debate too which is refreshing. I agree with the concern over defensive width and I also agree with GSTQ’s assessment that the 4222 isn’t a shape that automatically exposes it.

Going Sjor. I think the 3 at the back in the organised defensive phase even up against a relatively narrow attack is not a great idea. If Scrappy was to go 4411 in the defensive phase with Edwards dropping into CB, this would be a seriously tight game.

In possession GSTQ has a lovely attack and ADS is in a perfect role there as inside left.

Sjor has a juggernaut here, early favorite for the draft. Could only imagine what it would look like if he landed Pele.

GTSQ has compiled a WM that would probably went through against half of the other teams unlucky for the current tie.

All in all I agree with @Physiocrat above. I think going 4-4-1-1 would hide the wide issue of the WM itself, but kudos for sticking to his guns as making a game of it with this formation in all time draft is as hard as it gets.

cheers! as for pele, if i actually got him id have a lesser side now as only version of pele that fits here was 17 year old...while still brilliant, safe to say that peak stoichkov was better and even cleaner fit.

I think it would've been better with Edwards in a quasi-CB role but it doesn't look like he's used that way. Voting for Sjor as I don't quite buy into GSTQ's defensive solidity.

This vote though deserves a pin of shame.

Clear case of trying to find ways (and hilariously failing on 2 attempts) to vote against someone for them voting against you and knocking you out in a close game.

At least put in a slightly valid reason to not make it so obvious. Edit it a 3rd time and blame the wings this time maybe, might be more digestible.

Di Stefano not working in 3-2-2-3 for fecks sake
I already explained what I meant and I edited before I even read your post.. Neither Beat nor Romario has a personality that I see meshing with Di Stefano's attitude.

Plus you ignored the first half of my post to begin with. I don't think I've ever voted for a pure WM because I dislike the formation.

Oh and for revenge voting, if that was true I wouldn't have voted because it was @Šjor Bepo bonkers rule that disqualified the vote that would have given me a draw.

Really like Sjor's team with the tactics and the individual fits. A more offensive LWB than Bossis would be ideal though.

Think GTSQ has a cracking team too with Di Stefano and Schuster having it in them to utilize those free roles to great effect. Perhaps the issues with the flanks could have been better negated with pulling Schuster back into a 3-3-1-3 with Di Stefano in a free role. Young Schuster would have thrived in a RCM role, similar to the 1980 Euros role. The same goes for Edwards in a LCM position, although I'm not that well versed about his ability covering the flanks.

after the draw went on to see RR picks for scrappy and thought feck, with R1 team in mind i thought i won the lottery but then i saw Schuster and Romario and immediately i thought of 433 with Schuster Kopa combo on the right, Di Stefano as LCM and Schweini holding while Edwards moved to CB.

I’m on the fence. Not completely convinced by Bossis although he obviously played this role in a comparable system. This will be a flank running role and I’m not sure if he is that. Create a few compilations without wasting time on Bobby you hack.

Similarly, on the other side of the coin, I’m not sure Zebec is a LCB. He feels like a winger who could be a fullback or wingback.

Just feel the lack of footage for both these players works against them here.

Voted Sjor because of the doubts over WM in defense, especially since the sides are by and large similar in individual quality. Reckon Sjor's attacking players are great for using width as well, despite the seemingly "narrow" formation.

Can't say much about his FBs as tactical fits, though. But haven't watched the Jusufi footage, so for now that's on me.

Difficult discussion due to sparseness of footage. But I guess it comes from him spending much of his latter day career at CB (possibly sweeper-like), and reportedly doing great there. I personally buy it, but can also understand scepticism.

My understanding of Zebec was that he was both a world class LW and a world class CB so I see him doing well as a left sided CB in a back 3.

I see this being a free flowing attacking game with lots of chances at both ends, so I've voted for GodShaveTheQueen due to Di Stefano's shooting accuracy and because a back Beara to save more chances than Ederson

can understand any other criticism apart from bossis tactical suitability considering he played in the same fecking system with teammates that offer even less width then this....

usually guy plays in drafts like a leftback, rightback, centerback and never ever gets questioned....i play him in his system and there we go!

Congrats @Šjor Bepo, not a loss I can complain against at all. I got cocky with the WM in an all time pool and got punished deservedly.

Good luck with the rest of the draft. Feels good to play a draft after ages, I missed this for sure.

Your vote didnt matter in the larger scheme of things. I wrote what I felt and you have justified yourselves which is okay. Will move on.

I had that role cherry picked for Edwards for the semis. Considering so many others thought of the same tactics in the thread, not a surprise that I did too.

But Burgnich irked me. He didn't suite that 4-3-3 that looked so Pep-esque. So wanted to reinforce him before giving Edwards a moment to shine at CB which we have footage for of course (against Aston Villa if i remember correctly)

Nah I’ve been questioned when having him as an LB before. Make a compilation you hippy.
