Kaka is favourite to win the Ballon d’Or, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic is lining up a world record contract that would dwarf the Brazilian’s forthcoming deal.

Kaka is expected to receive the European Player of the Year award on December 2 and to celebrate with a contract renewal worth around £6.5m per year until 2012.

The Selecao star is currently top of Serie A’s wage table with £4m, while Ibra trails in fourth at around £3.3m.

However, it sees that Zlatan is set to go one better and become the most highly paid player in history with an £8m agreement – over double his current salary.

It is believed that the shadow of Real Madrid has shocked the Nerazzurri into action, but the Swede’s agent Mino Raiola is keeping tight-lipped.

“Relations with Inter are excellent, but we aren’t ready to sign a new contract,” he insisted.

The Kaka-Ibrahimovic rivalry continues to intensify with Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani responding to Inter chief Massimo Moratti’s claim that Ibra is more deserving of the Ballon d’Or than Kaka.

“In 2007, Kaka was overwhelmingly superior to Ibrahimovic,” Galliani roared. “I just hope that in December, Kaka ends up with the Ballon d’Or and the Club World Cup.

If true, WOW!

That's...an unbelievable rise, an unnecessary leap sruely, even if Real are becoming too close for comfort.

Yeh but Ibrahimovic is a lot more consistent now then before. He can really become the best player in the world if he continues how he started this year IMO

I wouldnt put him in the top 3 strikers in the world, let alone the top player in any position in the world. i would be surprised if this is true. How many goals has he scored this season?

ibrahimovic always had the tallent. his carrer stalled at ajax, did well for juve but wasn't consistent enough, like in his 2nd season with them, he was terrible. played well for inter last year but there were always question marks about whether he would ever reach that next level, an elite player. dont think he's far off!!

11 goals in 12 starts (+ 2 sub apps, Serie A + CL).

I would say he's probably one of the worlds 3 best strikers.

No way! Have u ever seen him live? Absolute wanker, Id hate his influence at our club and on the younger players coming through. A waste of a very talented player. The last player Id want in the team when going to war.

And Benjani has 8 from 12 starts in the Premiership. I don't think anyone would rate him as even in the top 20.
Well I didn't say I rate him as top 3 because of his goals, his game is about so much more than that. He usually get's a lot more assists than goals. Frankly, I cannot understand why so few seem to rate him at all on this site. Whenever I see him play for Inter he runs around always looking for the ball. He's was a pretty troubled youngster, but he seems to have matured a lot in recent years, but once you get a bad reputation it's hard to change that. His agent Mino Raiola is an utter cnut, that's not helping either.

Here is an interesting statistic from this season. It's the medium rating done by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Trezeguet 6,25(10 goals in 12 starts)
Kaka 6,39(7 goals in 9 starts)
Totti 6,79(7 goals in 7 starts)
Ibrahimovic 6,9

The Gazzetta ratings make interesting reading actually. They seem to put a lot more thought into them than Uk tabloids, who are usually way off the mark and automatically give 2 bonus points to anyone who's English :smirk:

In fairness, I haven't watched a whole Inter, over the last couple of seasons but every time I have, I've been expecting more from Ibrahimovic than he's actually delivered. He may well be maturing as a player now, though. I could always see he had amazing potential.

Ibra is an awesome player and it would be great if he would play for us one day. I think the english atmosphere would totally motivate him and get the best out of him.
