"The gaffer has been a father figure for me and after my dad he's been the second-biggest influence on my career. The lads in the dressing room wind me up about it and say he's my dad." <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

"When I saw him after the Greece game, I expected him to pat me on the back or say well done but instead he said I'd better put as much effort in for us as I had for England." <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> Well said Fergie :D

"With our manager, you always have to prove to him that you want to be in the team - and you never question Sir Alex Ferguson. He is the boss. He's always intense as a manager, always has that hunger to win things. That shows through with the way he is and the way he talks to players. He can be scary."<hr></blockquote>

Well done Fergie. Could we possibly have a better man in charge? Who would be better equiped to look after our superstars?

Feel good factor, they knew that with a new Manager maybe the chain could be broken. Now they have to put up with us for another three yrs 2 least <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Beckham's recent rest.......was it because he was tired, or was it because his mind wasn't on the game because of his parents divorce, and Fergie knew that.

Interesting remark. People often forget that players are not robots, and that they can have personal problems. Those problems can affect their performances. I'm thinking about Barthez here.

Don't worry, I do have other interests in life.I've never opened a topic about him. But I have to defend him when he's attacked. Just like you do when Nicky Butt is criticized. :p

It must have had some affect on him tho. Much easier to play the odd England game, than once or twice a week for United.
