SPL outfit Inverness Caledonian Thistle have taken Manchester United youngster Michael Barnes on trial.

The 19-year-old winger will be released by United in the summer and is on the look-out for a new club. He will train with Inverness this week.

Barnes made one first-team appearance for United in a Carling Cup tie against Crewe in October 2006 and played three games for Chesterfield after joining the Spireites last month, before returning to Old Trafford due to a lack of first-team opportunities.

Could be a good move for him, Scottish Prem. Was never going to make it at United so hopefully he gets this deal. Is there an official list of who has been released?

won't be an official announcement until the summer, but it's rarely hard to work out who'll be getting released. Barnes and Lea are certs, Sean Evans too i'd imagine. have heard Heaton and Eagles are both out of contract in the summer too, dunno what's going on with them.
