Swede Daniel Ålund has been training with our u15s and u18s. He's 15 and apparently a pacy, tricky left winger. The Sports Director at current club Brommapojkarna - Tommy Söderstöm - used to do some scouting for United and recommended Daniel to United as long as 4 years ago. Söderström describes Ålund as a great talent and a humble lad. United want him back as soon as possible and seem keen on signing him.

The last paragraph says that SAF did a 2 minute opera number in the middle of a packed Carrington cafeteria when Daniel was over

Sidenote: Are we checking out a lot more kids from all over the place these days, or is it just a coincidence that so many of these trials have ended up in the papers lately?

I think the "90 minute rule" is forcing clubs to look abroad for kids now. It is supposed to help the smaller teams, but I think it is just having a detrimental effect on English youngsters coming through in this country.

Yeah, but the 90 min rule isn't new though, so that's not it. Are we pursuing young players more aggressively because of the proposed minimum requirement of academy players in the first team squad? I thought that rule was just another one of Platini's castles in the air..
