the amount of attention about this guy isn't just. i'm just going to say that out of verratti, thiago, isco and co, kovacic is the most talented of them all. intelligence, skill, dribbling at speed, passing, he's miles ahead of the level iniesta was at at the same age. if kovacic continues his development, he'll easily be the top midfielder in the world. right now mazzarri is proving how incompetent he is at inter with his use of players and tactics, if we ever get a chance at kovacic, i'd call 40m a bargain.

Love the guy, the poise, the ballet-like motion, the immense passing ability, makes football seem like an art - he can literally do everything and still hasn't turned 20. Unbelievable really seems like he's been around for ages. Will be a much better player than Modric 5 years down the line. Forget Kroos, sign Mateo up ffs.

He hasn't been great this season, you overrate him.
He could be the top midfielder in the world but it isn't as certain as you make it seem, talent wise he is not much more talented than Pogba, Isco, Veratti at all. The point about him being miles ahead of Iniesta at the same age again is wrong, unless you haven't watched him this season? He has been largely inconsistent, he is a talent but you make it seem like he is already excelling himself week in week out which is not true.
Exactly. He hasn't been a certain starter and he's been very inconsistent. The talent is obviously there, but the names you mentioned have demonstrated much, much more.

I think him having an awful season is more due to frequent positional changes. Last year he was converted from a trequarista to a regista and performed brilliantly. But this season Mazzari has reverted to type and started tinkering with his playing position. I think once we see him settled in as a centrocampista for a couple of seasons we'll see his real talent. He's certainly better than Boban and Modric in terms of pure potential. He's just waiting to explode on the bigger stage.

Err sorry for the word dropping it's just basic Italian football terminology like the much more famous catenaccio which means a tactical system that pays more emphasis on defence.
Regista is a deep lying playmaker like say Scholesy in his later years or Pirlo
Trequarista is a classic no. 10 who's very creative like say Totti or Baggio
Centrocampista just means a good all-round central midfielder like say Modric or Gundogan

He's one of them players that I just can't make my mind up on, kind of like Lucas Moura.
On the one hand he's exciting in the way he can carry the ball, but he seems a bit sloppy at times and his technique often fails him. I don't think he's what we need at this moment in time anyway.
