Reserves set for derby

A young Reserves team will entertain Manchester City in the Manchester Senior Cup on Thursday evening.

Tom Heaton is in goal for Brian McClair's side, while David Gray, who bagged his first goal for the Reserves in the 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United two weeks ago, Michael Lea, Craig Cathcart and Phil Marsh make up the back four.

Captain Danny Rose, Kieran Lee, who netted the Carling Cup winner for the first team at Crewe, Sam Hewson and Michael Barnes are in midfield. Floribert Ngalula and Aaron Burns are up front.

United's second string have already tasted victory over their local neighbours this season. Phil Marsh's deflected first half strike was enough to seal the points in the league clash back in September.

The Reserves' most recent Senior Cup fixture against Bolton last month ended in a win for the Reds after substitute Febian Brandy pounced to score the only goal of the game.

Back in September, the Reserves slipped to defeat in the Cup after missing four penalties in a shoot-out at Stockport.

United: Heaton, Gray, Lea, Cathcart, Marsh, Rose (c), Lee, Hewson, Barnes, Ngalula, Burns.
Subs: Crockett (GK), Chester, Brandy, Fagan, Eikrem

it might be a mistake of manutd.com

Heaton
Gray, Cathcart, Lea, Rose
Lee, N'Galula, Hewson, Barnes
Marsh, Burns

this could be the correct line-up

Yeah, that does seem more likely. Or maybe Rose at RB, Lea at LB, and Gray at CB.

Wouldn't put it past them...they've played him anywhere but centre mid for the past 2 seasons
that's true, N'Galula was playing LB before getting injured last season... central midfield is his best position.

Rose is left-footed, so he will play either LB or CM.
