Not arrogant, just better

Always loved this little quote, but always wondered where it first came from.

Does anyone know? Has it always been a United fans saying, or was taken from something else and 'adopted' of sorts?

Did it not just originate from the banner?

I think it's wank myself.

Sounds like some scouse shite in the kop and I cringe when I see it.

Because it sounds the exact opposite of "not arrogant" and makes us look like Big Time Charlies.

Arseholes carrying it about, I'd wager.

It's like the precursor to "We'll do what we want". People are going to assume we're arrogant/we get everything our way anyway, so we might as well have some fun with it.

I am light, R_Nick. Completely.

Just think it's a naff banner. Others don't. I can live with this dichotomy.

I don't think it's a particularly original sentiment. I've heard that, or something similar, in reference to other sports teams (and I don't think it originated with them either). And probably for that reason, I'm with fadas and don't like it. Arrogance is fine when it comes from players. It means confidence. But for fans to be arrogant because they support a good team, just seems kind of silly to me.

I don't get upset about it though. People want to have fun with it, to dig at the opponents' fans, that's fine. What ever floats your boat. I just personally see a greater value in humility.

As Fadas pointed out the semiology boils down to 'We're a bunch of arrogant cnuts'. Put alongside 'We're Man Utd and we do what we want to' it starts to get a bit smelly.

For the last couple of weeks, you have not hesitated to lay into anything about us. It is interesting, you are the opposite of Wenger, when he is in a good position in a competition that is when you remember what an irritating whinger he can be, when he is down, he becomes so affable. You on the other hand just want to put a downer on anything at the moment.

This is the subtle different between United and Arsenal fans you see. We think we're the bollocks... and we are. Juts look at our away support, the best in the top flight. You think you're the bollocks... and you aint. You regularly boo your own off the pitch! And every other Arsenal supporter is Jopub-lite, a proper Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime without a clue of the game. A ratio beaten only by Chelsea

I remember this thread.
The banner was an idea of my friend Phil from Manchester.

I took these pics on march, before the match vs Bolton, at Sam Platts.
