Just recently had Xfinity internet installed (600mbps) and the tech has the cable going into a splitter on one end and the other end goes tot he gateway. Any reason why he ran the cable through a splitter?
Splitters are equipped with signal stabilizers for lack of a better word. I think they are sometimes called signal filters. Signal should not oscillate outside of designated range. Another reason it's to give you ability to run another coax cable to a different device such as cable box, voice router etc...
