Pretty dramatic result from the Sri Lanka Vs Sth African game, rain cancelling play, thus ending in a tie, putting Sth africa out of the world cup... condolences to the jaapies on the board! :(

But I don't feel too bad...

WE'RRREEE THROUGH!!!!!

SL would've bowled them out imo. SA have been poor in the world..and deserve what they got...

congrats to NZ, they look a good outfit...

and what about kenya? they're taking 8 points with them into the S Sixes

I fecking hate technicalities. One fecken run. You might say that we would have been bowled out but, like in 1992, we would preferred to have the result either way and not speculate about what might have happened.

You only take points through that were taken against fellow Super six teams (eg Sri Lanka and N.Z) NZ go through with nothing, Sri Lanka carry forward 4 points.

More rain in todays Zim Pak game aswell. England on the brink :(

Anyone know why the ICC decided to have the Crickt World Cup during Africa's rainy season?

No. You get a bonus point for beating every other team(that didn't qualify). That gives Kenya 10, India 8 and Australia 12.

Tough luck mate, but you have to consider WI unlucky as well, their match with Bangladesh being rained out and losing out to Kenya cos NZ refused to go there.

Bloody hell, didn't know that! quite a good rule that actually, I'd wondered why the points system had suddenly doubled since last time (eg 4 points for a win instead of 2)

Yeah, I guess they had to do that after Zim qualified with full points last time by beating India and SA but finishing below Ind and SA on points.

All over for England. Zimbabwe through after Pak/Zim game is declared a draw :(

Zimbabwe go through having won just two games against Namibia and Holland.

ICC want stringing up for this farce of a tournament:-

Games being (not) played in countries that aren't polictically stable/safe
Games played at day and night where the toss basically decides the winner
Tournament organised during the rainy season

Guess I'll have to start supporting New Zealand now. Don't want any of the other super 6 sides to win. Come on you black caps :D

True. What pisses me off though is that we were so close. Lost by 3 runs vs WI when an over got deducted. Rain vs NZ (probably would have made no difference), Last nights 1 more run to win.

Add that to the cumulative bad luck of World cups going back to 1992, it getting a bit hard to swallow, actually.

Snooks. SA weren't good enough, plain and simple.

same goes for England, Pakistan... however i feel sorry for WI, they would have beaten Bangladesh.

as for 1992.. i recall SA taking advantage of the rain rule against Pakistan.. you win some you lose some.. thats the way it is.

Anyway.. seen Lawson bowl for WI? he's friggin fast!

It could be argued that West Indies weren't good enough in losing to NZ and Sri Lanka.

At the end of the day Kenya and Zimbabwe have both flenked their way through at England and West Indies expense and the tournament will be that much sh!tter for it. (Australia virtually in the final already)

Zimbabwe have beaten only Holland and Namibia. How anyone could justify that they deserve to go through is quite beyond me.

thats true... but if England went through they would have done so by beating just the minnows and pakistan, under conditions which strongly favoured them...

besides, if we wanted a strong looking super six, then why didn't they put the six major sides straight into the final six? i doesn't work like that... the only thing i've had a beef with in this world cup is the D/Ns.. i said it before the WC, that it would be a lottery.. win the toss, win the game!

Can't see anyone beating the Aussies... altho u can never tell, anything can happen in the knockout stages.

The Day nighters are a joke - will be very annoying if the 2nd/3rd place semi final is not moved to an alldayer as this will potentially ruin one of the few decent games left to be played. England beat Pakistan because of that but it could be argued that Nehra's display for India was also helped by the conditions. (would have much preffered to see both matches played as day matches)

They should also have a spare day for rain delays/washouts. It's ridiculous that with such a long world cup 2/3 three matches can't be continued the day after they are meant to be played (it's not as if the grounds are 1000+ miles/days apart)

It's a real shame that that the Super six is, in my opinion, so weak. Has virtually ruined the tournament as a spectacle for me. Will watch New Zealand's matches and that's about it for the Super six. Australia and India will massacre Sri Lanka and Kenya.
If Kenya and Zimabwe had not been helped out by affairs off the pitch (rain/politics) they wouldn't have got through. A sporting tournament should be about sporting ability only. This hasn't been the case with this World Cup.

yeah, you've had a bad run with world cups in particular, but as they say snooks (at the risk of rubbing it in more...) Bad luck for you, good luck for us! ;)

It has definitely been a bit of a farcical tournament in that respect, I'm sorry that England and the windies have been knocked out the way they have...

How about NZ, eh? we give Kenya a wide berth, go out on the piss, get into bar-room brawls and still make it through! Gotta love our side! ;)

We haven't looked too bad in our day nighters. We lost them due to shit decision making not conditions.

England played like wallies vs India, I don't much like Flintoff but I really thought he read the situation well, unlike the rest of the team.

Him and Brendan McCullum took their shirts off and refused to put them back on, then the team did the haka and one of the locals ended up decking Cairns! He was out for about 2 minutes apparently!

Maybe the guy who punched Cairns out was related to the guy who ran on to biff the ref at last years tri-nations game?
