NC was the better team, but Illinois made a great comeback and made it a pretty good game.

Of course, in all the jizzing of Roy W finally winning the big prize (glad he finally won though), how many will credit Matt Dougherty for building this squad? He recruited the entire junior and senior class who were the big players in this group. Even the sophomores were recruited by Matt. Roy W's most recognized recruit to date is Melvin Williams, and it's rumored he'll declare for the NBA draft as he's a potential top 3 pick. UNC faces a major rebuilding as they will lose 4 key seniors and potentially 2-4 underclassmen (McCants is a certainty to leave, May said he'd comeback but that was before winning the title, Felton may leave if he's assured to be a first round pick, and Williams will probably go).

You're right. Dougherty recruited all those guys. I saw him at Madison Square Garden recently. I don't know why he didn't get the St. Johns or Massachusetts jobs. Carolina will be OK. They have 3 McDonalds All Americans signed. So does Duke and Kansas. Supposedly more high school stars will be heading to the pros this year because next year the NBA age minimum goes to 20. Some guys that would drop because of that may end up staying to get drafted higher next year.
