Will Manchester United ever have an English manager again?

Given the way younger fans are into stats and YouTube tactics videos it wouldn’t surprise me if a generation of coaches emerge in England who are at the cutting edge.
I'm not really sure how relevant their understanding of pressing structures and build up shapes will be when football is played in acid rain to an audience of omniscient super robots though.

Why do you think that?

He certainly hasn’t done anything yet to be considered a serious candidate.
I suspect Ineos will Go British & he’s worked under Ashworth before. There’s also a rather loud narrative that the Chelsea stint was a poisoned chalice so he was doomed & deserves another chance.

I think it could well happen. Again not my wishes but something I think is very possible.

I’d be shocked personally

I don’t think you can make statements like “this (hiring Berrada) is the first step to becoming the best team in England and Europe again” and then hire a manager who hasn’t won anything

I also think it’ll be Berrada who ultimately chooses the next manager after Ten Hag, not Ashworth or Ineos

Born in London, makes him pretty English
Classes himself as a Fermanagh Irish man where he was raised, grew up and kicked his first football in. Played for Enniskillen Town and Ballinamallard United before moving to England and also represented Northern Ireland at all underage levels, including captaining their U21s.

If ETH gets sacked before the end of the season, or during next season. It’s very likely McClaren will be interim.

English managers dont win the Premier League so lets hope the answer to that question is no.
There haven’t been any good ones recently but Nationality has nothing to do with it… I‘m convinced Carrick and/or Rooney will end up managing United soon enough.

Did you see him managing Chelsea dressing room, that told me he can't deal with egos
I was never in the dressing room so I would not know.
The simple solution to that problem would be not to bring players to the club that have big egos but ones that have a high work ethic and desire to achieve great things at Manchester United and are at the right stage in their career to do so.

The problem is we don't seem willing to get rid of all the big egos in this dressing room like Rashford,Varane,Casemiro and Bruno. IF Utd ever showed that willingness like we saw at Arsenal with Ozil and Aubameyang then just maybe I might feel differently about him.

I presume Big Jim and his crew will shake up what we have at the moment.

Shaking things up in my eyes is selling Rashford/Bruno but we both know the club don't see either of them as a problem. Still think Rashford has been quite toxic since the Sancho stuff and club needs to show some balls.

Add Shaw, McTominay & Maguire to the list then I’m all for it.

I understand Bruno & Marcus carry a lot of the can for this fanbase but they shouldn’t be the only ones.

I genuinely think the squad we see in 2 years time will be vastly different to what we see today. Surely Ineos didn’t pay a billion to keep this squad in any form.

Shaw?????? when he is fit he walks into the team and the national team.
Add Casemiro, Lindelof and Varane to your list and then you would be close.

Just look at rumours about keeping Rashford
Rumours are exactly that.
Apparently Marcus was offered more money to go elsewhere before he resigned with us so if he is identified as an issue there should be no trouble in getting decent money for him anyway.

There’s your problem.

He’s also not some Dennis Irwin minimum 7 out of 10 a week fullback either.

Go through some of our recent embarassing losses & you’ll usually find an anonymous Shaw performance in there but he’s teflon so let’s blame Bruno & Rashford.

He’s months off 29, hardly ever fit. The likelihood he’s a left back in United’s next good side are slim.

You’re right in one thing though. Cas, Victor & Varane can join him.

Agree completely, we should be looking at shipping Shaw out as he's injury prone and on high wages. He would have been long gone under Fergie.

Great player on his day but there should be no room for sentiment - we're paying him 150k plus a week to play maybe 20 odd games at most each season, half of those featuring him underperforming as well due to trying to get back to full fitness and not being up to speed.

I'm worried as well Martinez is showing signs of similar issues with constant injuries undermining his performance levels and availability.

Injuries are his only issue.
As I have stated...he is the best LB in England when fit and I am not even taking into account his ability to easily slide into the LCB role where he would arguably be our best option there as well.
