Good start to the weekend for us! Villa hold City to a 1-1 draw thanks to an equaliser from our Kirsty Hanson. It leaves them 2 points behind us having played a game more. They haven't yet played Arsenal either so that's potentially more dropped points for them. It gives us a big advantage in the race for top 3 if we can capitalise on it with a win against Reading.
Just seen the result. We need to take advantage.

what is the condition of the field at reading today?
Looks like they're playing. No obvious work going on to test frozen edges etc, so it doesn't like they've got the problems they had at Chelsea.
FAPlayer stream is active now and they're just about to kick off.
Actually they're playing in Reading's main stadium today - so they've got under-soil heating etc. So no surprise that it all looks ok.

Big chance this to put some pressure on. Loving how far the women's game has come and United in particular.
The passing in women's football has improved so much, used to be rather laborious and clunky.
Reading working hard to keep us out and doing a decent job of creating chances of their own. They're very much the kind of team who could frustrate us if they do score first.

0-0 at halftime. Disappointing not to have converted any of our chances. Reading will be happier about the scoreline, though they've had a couple of decent chances too.

It's all United at the moment but still no breakthrough.
Just score a scrappy goal. That will do.

On goal difference, yes. Puts us 5 clear of City too and they have the harder fixtures left, the best position we've been in to make the Champions League although we will have to play better than we have today.

This is where the investment in the squad is paying off. Couple of seasons ago, if the starting XI couldn’t get the job done, that was pretty much it. Now we can bring match winners off the bench to get results like today’s.
Still some way to catch up to Arsenal and Chelsea, but it’s definitely progress.

Meanwhile Arsenal's match at Brighton has also been postponed due to the weather. So we're staying top tonight!
Bad news for the WSL though - it means Sky and the BBC lost their televised matches today.
The Chelsea match in particular was an embarrassment. Ref was ready to cancel it at 9:30 after a pitch inspection but delayed the announcement to give Chelsea time to use air blowers and covers. Match then abandoned 5 minutes in, as too dangerous for the players. Not a good look.
United and City have under-soil heating at their usual women's stadiums - I'm not sure who else does.
