No Irwin, no TN, no Icky!!! WTF??? :-(
It was a red card. Why would you boot someone like that in front of the lino?

Add in our lacklustre display and not giving a shit for the entire game and you get me thinking that those poor sods who've paid for their tickets today have been screwed.

Spurs and Arsenal have reasons to be annoyed too, Chelsea have been bad but we've just given them 3 points.
Come on Issy! Luiz used his elbow not once, but twice in that sequence before the red card so, perhaps the Lino should have signalled that instead. How do you expect Rafa to react to an elbow? We have already seen Luiz and his elbows i.e. Aguero.

Er...sorry...near Southampton.
Ho hum. Rather too much of mentally being beside the pool there. I'm surprised the likes of Clev and Ando didn't make more of the opportunity to stake their claims but these were just lacklustre performances in a pretty lacklustre show all round. We never looked like scoring as the second half wore on. Mind you, neither did they for most of the match. Oh, and Sideshow Bob is a twat but we knew that already. Come on Benfica!

Better off playing people who have a point to prove. Rooney was absolutely pointless.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
Just saw the goal from Mata again and it's really amazing how they pull our defense all over the place because there is no midfield in front of them.

Giggs was there but he did nothing but watch the ball being passed around our defenders.

Flat performance from us as expected. However, didn't see us losing this one. Very poorly conceded goal. Mata was terrific all match and hats off to him. The clearance by Evans was embarassing and Rooney losing the ball beforehand even worse. I honestly don't think Evans is any better than a squad player and he surely cannot be allowed to succeed Rio and Vidic. Just mistakes all over the fecking place.

Rooney's form has dipped as usual and he looks disinterested and not sharp at all. Valencia I honestly dont know where to start. A 40 year old is out playing him on his opposite wing. His technique has gone to shit and opponents are just giving him all kinds of space to cross because they know its not going to hit a target.

Anderson, Cleverley and Jones showed alot of energy but compared to chelski's midfield they are CLEARLY a notch below. I think mata puts them to shame and im still holding out hope that someday Kagawa can hit those heights.

Clear red card. Luiz is a prick, we knew that already.

Very disappointed in Fergie, the time for picking teams like this is against Swansea and West Brom, not Chelsea.

Real kick in the teeth too considering if we put chelski out of the CL places, it might be a deterrent for mourinho to come back and also we will likely be going head to head for some of the big names this summer. Without CL football they might not be as attractive.

At least Giggsy showed some fire and fight out there.

He's right in a way, Sir Alex is always coming out about that we have to think about the other teams in the CL chase. Blah Blah Blah. Then he picks a team like that and some of them either aren't good enough or couldn't be arsed. If someone did that to us and stopped us getting into CL we would be fuming.

While Luiz is a prick...elbows? That was nothing. I would expect Rafa to walk away or use his mouth, not kick out in front of an assistant ref. You've either got to be blind or stupid to know that you don't do that kind of thing right in front of the officials...if you're going to do it, don't do it like that.

Was so similar to Rooney vs Montenegro with perhaps more winding up from Luiz.

You're...going to love me
Just wanted to check whether I imagined it not but did anyone else think Ramires tried to kick Jones after he was fouled trying to lead a break?

The one time you actually want United to win a game and they play a ridiculous side before crumbling to a defeat without even scoring a goal. I'm off to punch a kitten.

True that. Even though I love Giggs, I've not been happy about seeing so much of him this season but at least he did turn up today which is more than can be said of the team as a whole.

Spurs got everything in their own hands. If they didn't go for EL, they would be top 4 now. feck them.

The ball is out of play and he's obviously kicked him out of frustration right in front of the lino, it was stupid and he deserved a red card all day long for me.

Doesn't matter how little the kick was, he was asking for trouble. Had that been the other way round I've no doubt in my mind that the caf users would be spamming the internet ensuring the Chelsea player was walking.
Yeah, people went completely berserk when Ramirez kicked out at Jones. Think half of the caftards died from anger.

The two players were having a fight for the ball and Luiz wasn't being a particularly nice chap either, but Webb/lineswoman only spotted (or took notice of) the kick at the end.

Giggs was walking back into the box and Rooney was standing on the half way line throwing his dummy out the pram because he didnt get a free kick.

Absolutely pathetic

Sometimes I think Fergie's insistence on keeping RVP on the pitch is detrimental to the game. It means Hernandez doesn't come on until the final minutes as we have to sacrifice the shape .

Yep, Rafa was going for the ball when he booted him...you know when it had already crossed the line.

Once upon a time, being number 7 for United meant something.
I think Zaha is going to walk right into the first eleven at this rate.

I hope he can live up to expectations because we desperately need some flair and drive to our attack.

Dreadful from Evans in the build up to the goal and Keeper could have done better.
