I hope so. If I hear him being boo'ed then I'll lose a lot of respect for our supporters. But yeah, I think our match day support will be fine, even if he's not their first choice candidate.
Are you the twat who calls our home support all the time? Who the feck are you anyway?

The only thing I can say is whilst most feel it's a done deal...wasn't Redknapp odds on, front page news last year to takeover from Capello?

Whilst we can't help but talk about it like it's going to happen, lets try to remember that ANYTHING can happen.

When he has had money he didn't really spend it well. He splashed out a lot of bilyaletdinov. He spent big on Fellaini and at the time it was remarked as a panic buy as fans were on his back, but that one worked out well.
So he should get some credit for Fellaini, even if he was a panic buy?

He'd probably make a sizeable profit now on Baines, Fellaini, and Jagielka as he did with Lescott, Arteta, Rodwell and even Andy Johnson! There's plenty of things to doubt about Moyes without making up crap about what he should achieve with his budget.

Some of his biggest signings haven't worked out. Probably why Ferguson sees so much of himself in Moyes..

Have you considered he might be on his way to another club, or may not want the job?
we will soon know... doubt any manager would turn down the united job which is a dream job for any manager..

Where's this talk of booing coming from? You're acting superior about a scenario you created in your own head. He might not be some people's first choice, but he'll be United manager and will be supported accordingly.
Yeah, I've seen a few people mention how it's similiar to the Benitez scenario at chelsea. It's nothing alike really. Moyes might not be some people's cup of tea but he will be backed by the majority of United supporters.

This is easily one of the absolute stupidest anti-Moyes arguments I've heard. There are some legit doubts about Moyes that you could have gone with, but you decide not outperforming any of United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham is one of them. Give yourself a massive pat on the back! :wenger:
I'm saying he has done nothing out of the ordinary/special (unlike SAF when he was appointed for instance).

Being the 7th - 9th wealthiest club with the 7th - 9th largest wage bill and consistently (pretty much) finishing... 7th - 9th isn't a noteworthy achievement.

I'm almost certain someone posted a state saying that Everton are the 8th most well off club, and come 8th on average.
Exactly. If he had won the Europa League and FA Cups/League Cups you could at least argue he's overachieved - he's massively underachieved in this regard (cups).

Do we really need to put out a list of all the big players who've turned us down in recent years with Fergie?
I know, you would think that Fergie has signed every player he goes in for. I am coming round to the idea of Moyes as manager. I don't think I could stand the drama you get with Mourinho. Everything is about him. I want someone who cares about our club and respects our reputation and traditions. I think Moyes will do that. Will he bring Baines with him?

It's a done deal. Everyone who is everyone in football is saying it'll be confirmed tomorrow.

I suppose it's a bit like your Dad saying he's retiring from being your Dad and committee then chose someone to take over the roll of being your Dad - doesn't matter if that person is Dad of the Year, its just not going to feel right or be comfortable...

....or is that a bit over the top..

I thought our supporters had a bit of class, until today. Moyes has been called every name under the sun.
We have a large amount of supporters. It's impossible to have a complete consensus across such a diverse collection of people. The important thing in my view is for the debate to be engaged with and hopefully advanced. Basically I don't think disagreement, or how some people in such a very large collective express their opinion warrants the "class" of that collective to be dismissed like you have in that post.

What I will agree with though is that Moyes has done nothing to warrant some of the names he has been called by some individuals. That reflects poorly on them, rather than United fans as a whole. Whether he is a good candidate for us or not, at least he's not fecking Benitez :p

Why would you expect some drastic change of direction though? It's not needed and the club isn't going to change because Thick from the internet wants something shiny. Nobody would really excite me tbh, Mourinho's just a massive cock, Klopps dealt with zero real pressure and an under performing league rival for most of his time at Dortmund, Moyes is just a shit version of Sir Alex and Ancelotti has the personality of a shoe and needs shit loads of money.
Well then stop being so positive and come down and wallow in misery with the rest of us.

I don't particularly want something shiny, and have been happy with something non Ginger and potato shaped.

People worrying about Moyes, I seriously doubt he would bring Evertons tactics to United. The fact is that we've just won the league. We're actually a successful club side. Bringing negativity will only be detrement to himself.

He's made Everton a tough team. We have that but we also have players who have great ability. There have been times, when even Sir Alex has been a bit negative. The fact however, that Sir Alex will still be at the club is great in and of itself.

Moyes is 50 and If we get him, could offer the club years of stability but we're in this together. So people need to accept whoever we bring in and fast.

from Gill's comments how can it possibly be Moyes?

He doesn't have any experience of winning anything, has perhaps taken Everton to top 4 once, and hasn't come close to doijng anything in Europe.

how can that fit?

Wasn't Hodgson supposed to offer Liverpool "stability"? Didn't turn out too well.

Here is a question.

Who thinks that a manager of Moyes exact achievements would have been appointed if he were not Scottish?

Mourinho may have committed his future, or at least a couple of years to Chelsea. I would not respect a manager who says he is joining one club then dumps them. I am hoping that he keeps Terry and Lampard, Roman loses his rag and buggers off and takes all his money with him. Chelsea will just be one massive soap opera. I want continuity not drama.

This is rapidly resembling RAWK with the overreaction and a manager hasn't been appointed yet.

Yes the smart money appears to be on Moyes but Utd are far too clever to release that information just this soon.Speculation may abound but I'm sure there'll be other candidates

What's the wage bill of United, City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea compared to Everton? What trophies are left to win when those clubs use those higher wage bills to hoover up all the trophies.

Soooo our manager of 26 years has just suddenly retired and we're accused of overreacting? Yeah, I think that's allowed for today.

Not a complete cock, just really young.
I try to be optimistic. I try and see a positive in things, but I can't see a positive in Moyes being our manager. It doesn't feel right. I'm all for giving him a chance, and it's imperative that we do, I just don't see why he deserves this position.

Cheap option used to managing on the cheap, which is obviously what they want.

Is it so coincidental that Fergie resigned days after claiming he was looking at 2 players only to be contradicted by Ed Woodward?
Yes it is coincidental. Otherwise, you're implying Fergie's hanging it up because he's been contradicted and spitting the dummy.

What nonsense.

Why do you think Everton are able to compete for those top 6/7 positions? It's because of Moyes and the great job he has done since taking over. There are plenty of clubs with higher net spends and 10 clubs with higher wage bills and keeping that in mind he has done an excellent job.

If you don't like him fair enough (I find it fairly underwhelming as well) but don't resort to making absurd statements

People were on here last Sunday, saying what a negative team we put out. We are not always all attacking. Maybe Moyes will surprise us and bring that attacking side back. He has better players here.

One of my uncertainties with Moyes over Mourinho is will Moyes be able to attract the same sort of player as what Mourinho could?

I know we are a huge club with a rich history of success and that will stand us in good stead but if Mourinho went to Chelsea and Moyes to United and we find ourselves battling for the same player, (ridiculous as it seems as we are the league champions) would these "top" players be more inclined to the name of Mourinho than to the potential of Moyes?

He's been friends with Fergie for years. The fact that they're from the same neck of the woods probably hasn't been detrimental to their friendship. So, yes, his nationality probably isn't entirely irrelevant. But I doubt very much Fergie would've backed an utter mug just because he happened to hail from Glasgow, so what does it matter, really?

I'm not bothered about people having differing opinions, I've been saying for ages that I wouldn't mind Mourinho and I still wouldn't now. I think it's going too far though to be calling the guy that is likely to be our next manager, we laugh at other clubs for that.

I'm sure the new manager will be a well thought out decision by United and not a knee-jerk reaction. Whoever the guy to take over will certainly have to have some bollocks about him in order to follow in Fergie's footsteps, and because of that, he will have my full support and utmost respect!
