So, what are the movies you just can't miss? The movies you have to watch every time if they're on TV. For me, I can't miss any Godfather movie on TV, even though part 3 was shite.

Your parent's sex tapes don't count.

Another one is back to the future. Found myself tuning in for 10 minutes last night and watched it from start to finish.

That was on the other day, not bad.

Gladiator
Was supposed to be the greatest film of all time but, for me, it turned out to be rubbish. It was probably spoilt for me because there was a series about gladiators on BBC which I had been watching & there were so many inaccuracies in the film as to make it pretty much unwatchable.

I know what you mean Colin, but your assuming they tried to keep the historical accuracies, if you take it for what it is at face value, top film.

Yeah I watched it too... there are two awful, yet brilliant moments in Troy. First is Brad Pitt's (who is utterly awful in the film) "Immortality! Take it, it's yours!" speech, which is so bad it's brilliant... and second is how Sean Bean's character comes up with the idea for The Trojan Horse, the centre-piece behind one of the greatest fables ever told...

He sits down next to a bloke who, for some weird reason unknown to us, is carving a little toy horse out of some wood (again.. why?!)... not to be rude, Our Bean points to said horse and remarks... "Thats Good" in a nice thick Yorkshire accent, before looking down, then looking up as if a million light-bulbs all went off at once... and that, ladies and gents is the inception of the great Trojan Horse... it is honestly one of the greatest scenes in modern cinematic history.

I remember watching that scene with a few mates, completely stoned, and we just burst into pure laughter and tears for around ten minutes, it's just absolutely fecking gold.

It's incredibly shit... hilarious in parts though (not intentionally mind). But at nearly 3 hours long, I don't see how anyone could watch it repeatidly.

 glad it stood out to other people... it's amazing.

I've seen The Mummy on TV more times then a) I would like to admit and B) it deserves... terrible film that is always on ITV2.

Oh, also Top Gun, which I'm pretty sure must be on TV at least once a week... because you know, who doesn't want to watch acceptable gay porn?

But you can still stand to watch Gladiator & Troy?
Because they are very good 'films', take them at face value, I don't watch them for their historical accuracies, merely the entertainment... it's not a bad job they have done... there are millions of inaccuracies, name one book or story that went to film without missing any of the parts out? There isn't one...

For what it is, its a good film.

I don't know. I see the reasons why Troy is shit, but it still remains one of my favourite films. It's just so... massive. A film of that scale can have as many historical inaccuaracies (and be honest, how many historical films are strictly accurate?), unintentionally funny moments or terrible dialogue as it likes - but the sheer size of it is what gets me.

Surprised to only see one Pulp Fiction mention so far. it's one of the few films that I can watch over and over without getting bored of it.

Pulp Fiction is overrated.

I'm probably going to get murdered for saying that now.
Probably if you look at the insane imdb ratings and all.

I thought this thread was about personal favourites, and it is one of mine. Can never ever get bored of it. Every single dialogue in the sequence "The Bonnie Situation" is pure gold. :D
