I think we have missed Rothwell's composure and passing in midfield. Charni and Pearson are both more defensive minded.

Other than a good early start, we've struggled to keep the ball and have been on the back foot since Chelsea scored their goal. They look more confident, and we look nervous.
The Chelsea forwards' movement is causing us to get outnumbered in midfield. Pearson and Ekangamene are over-committing to the central midfielders whilst the wide players cut in and make use of all of that space. Our central midfielders are afraid to commit forward as a result, and we've struggled to do much with most of our players unwilling to push forward on the attack.
Joyce needs to bring back the confidence that got us that 1st goal. Tell Amos to not hoof the ball forward all the time. Tell our players to express themselves more.

Love the bite in our midfield. We just need a bit more balance, though. Neither Pearson or Ekagamene are the type of players who will get on the ball and control the game.

Definitely. I've seen many moments where I wish Rothwell was available so that we could keep the ball in midfield, better.
I thought Pearson would become more assertive and more expressive in his game when partnered with Ekangamene, but that hasn't been the case at all. He's been as defensive as he's always been. Joyce needs to free him up and allow him to express himself more rather than be as defensive as Ekangamene is.

That Chelsea side are really good. They are physically strong and are a slick passing team as well. We coped well at the start but are struggling to grasp the game now and are resorting to long punts to Janko. It is a shame about the penalty decision as well, they would have gone to 10 men and a possible 2 -1 lead might have been important.
