Oh, i totally agree with all of that regarding results etc.. Just was expecting to see alot more flair from them. Everyone looks forward to seeing them at the WC.

Is there a drought of flair players in Argentina at the moment, because they just seem to be hard-working / industrious - like the Germans always seem to be at tournaments?!

Its been a brilliant WC - really exciting most of the time. Best one for me since Italia 90 - when Ireland did so well, plus Nessun Dorma of course..
Stop giving away your age RHD, I don't remember '90 ;)

Yeah agreed. I think the Argie side has a better attack but a worse midfield/defence then teams of the past & they're over reliant on Messi. They just don't seem to "gel". But if they can get it together in the semis/final, not many people will remember the group games etc.

Even the Brazil side, is a shadow of the past great sides. But as you mentioned, it's been a great World Cup for lots of other reasons.

He failed his medical. Not sure what Monaco was supposed to do in that situation tbh.
They knew he was injured, surely they couldn't expect him to pass it. They could tell him that they would sign him when he is fit again. It's not like he is out injured for the whole upcoming season.

Lemmy has forsaken us....

They signed him before the injury, risky business. Now sure how they're being allowed to break the contract.

Tielemans is nowhere near ready for United starting position to be fair. Big talent though.
Haven't said he is ready yet. I just rate him very highly and I'd rather see us signing someone who will help us in the long term than splashing way more money out for a player who will help us on a short term.

Bizarre logic in that post. You really value players this way?

Vidal is in my opinion exactly what we need, therefore I don’t really care how much we pay for him.
Of course you have to take prices for compareable players in regard. That's how anyone values anything... Why would anyone pay a certain price for a product if he can get something compareable for less? That's simple economy.
Football is not that simple-minded, but it works for it too.
Vidal is simply not worth 50m - even in todays market. It's another question wether he is worth 50m to us. Before we bought Hererra, I'd have said 'Yes'. With Herrera coming in, we're not 'bleeding' for a CM anymore.

Kroos had a year left on his contract, so you can't compare the prices.
Yeah thanks, I know that. Of course you can compare the prices, since it's not just about the transfer value but the wages also. Kroos rumored wages at Real Madrid (if the transfer goes through obviously) are 5m€ after tax - which is rougly 10m€ before taxes. That's about 170-180k a week, which Vidal would most likely exceed if he was ending up here. That makes Kroos far cheaper, which again leads to the question: Is Vidal worth 25m more than Kroos for us? I don't think so.

Just one thing, Kroos is going so cheaply because he's out of contract in a year.
It doesn't really matter why a player is going so cheaply. It's our job to get the best deals for our money. And paying 50m for Vidal isn't a good deal, even though some might disagree. I'm pretty confident that if we were after him, we could get him for around 40m€. Paying above that definately is overpaying in my eyes.

That would be fine if we already had the short term, instant fixes. But we don't.

Oh fecks sake. Lot of over-reaction on a routine challenge. Neymar was unlucky to get out but this is getting a tad ridiculous.
things like this are why I dont and didn't want Brazil to win it. Their over dramatic reactions to everything is too much. Scolari was saying today how they were targeting Neymar and Ronaldo was on about them meaning to injure him, just moaning about it. Not one word on how they spent 90 minutes kicking lumps out of Rodriguez

40m and Nani would be more like the true value IMO. 50m and Nani is overpaying.

That's too much, you're looking at around £62m with Nani included, he's not worth that.

I always root for the Argies, but not this time though. Too many of them arent willing to take any responsibility to win games & just feedin Messi the ball all the time. As much as i love watchin Messi - its a team game more importantly.

If they dont win the WC - Messi will probably be blamed & if they win - he'll get all the plaudits.. Very fine line there..
He's top class, and all the top players on history have won it and been the catalyst. Could be his year.

Not that I want them to win to be fair. The English are never keen - hand of god too fresh in the memory.

Oh whyyyyyyyyy can't there be at least one half-decent paper reporting on our interest in Vidal :(
To be fair, not too many reports were claiming we were interested in Herrera until it was pretty much confirmed he was coming.

It does matter why the fee is so low, you brought up Kroos as an example but ignored the reason for the fee, if he wasn't in the last year of his contract Real would likely be paying north of £40M for him. I don't know where you are getting the other part of your post from, Juve have no real reason to sell and we are in desperate need of a world class CM, we are not in a strong bargaining position.
