Thanks, so Valencia it is. Feeling a little less confident now with Shaw also being doubtful. Having said that, i don't agree with LVG's stand on a player needs to train with the first team for 2 weeks before being eligible to be included for the game. I reckon both Falcao & Rafael are physcially ready to play some part in the game, but LVG's philosophy does not allow it. Well, how could they train with the first team when most of them were out playing internationals for the past 2 weeks?

Rafael even though i like the guy needs to be sold he is a complete liability fitness wise, him Jones, Evans and Smalling seem to be made of glass.
Why is it we have a squad full of crocks. Reading keanes book he said before every match he could barely make it out of his front door he was in so much pain. But took a painkiller or an injection and played the match every week.

In the press conference LVG said something about Evans playing Tuesday night with the reserves. He also said he ideally likes players to complete 2 weeks of training before reintroducing them into the first time, although these are exceptional circumstances at the minute.

So basically both our starting fullbacks are out, 3 of our CBs are out and our starting defensive midfielder is out.

I'll be fecking surprised if we only concede 2.

I'd give januzaj another chance. I think he's been used in the wrong way these last few games. Hes not an out and out winger like giggs was in his prime. He plays more like David silva. So asking him just to say out wide, get the ball and cross it, isn't getting the best out of him.

I think that was his best performance for United, he's popping up everywhere and that's when he's at his best when he's alowed to roam about instead of being stuck out wide.

I've said this before but I'll say it again, I hate hate hate! The fact that Herrera hasn't played for the past three weeks, hate it! So I hope he starts. hopefully shaw and Rafa are fit. I think Rooney should be put up front on his own, I think he would do a better job than van persie. Playing in that role. Smalling was an absolute idiot in the Manchester derby, but I'm over it. I think he's the best the defender at the club so I expect/want him to start.

    So my team is....

    De gea

    Rafa*
    McNair
    Smalling
    Shaw*

    Carrick
    Fellaini
    Herrera

    Januzaj
    Rooney
    Di maria

A Championship level RB wouid be more useful to us than Rafael. It's no use being talented if you are forever injured. This has got to be addressed in January, can't keep falling back to Valencia or ine of the CBs. I had a new RB high up on my shopping list in the summer.

Its not great to rush players back but the thought of Blackett and Valencia at fullback against Arsenal's quality is scary. Even if there was a slight chance that Rafael could make it, I'd take the risk. It's also pretty ridiculous that we only have one first team right back at the club.

The pace they possess on their wings would hurt us if we play this formation (with the players we have).

Park the bus, kill them on the counter. Pay special attention to Alexis and Welbeck.

its a horrible team, but we have to be realists. We are not gonna control the game. They have better players to get the ball moving around and they know we are fecked with injuries so they will go all out.

its imperative we go 0-0 to the HT. Arsenal will drop their performance for the first 30 minutes of the second half, and thats when we have to make them pay. RVP will have his chances, so he better take them.

The last 20 minutes of the game, hold the fort.

injured? mmm if not, well... him instead of Young and go for the sacrifice (he HAS to track back). At least one of his crosses will bounce from Fellaini to RVP, or end up on a tap in opportunity.

cheers, that's good news and improve our chances even more.

looking forward to see how LvG gonna set us up for this one

edit. whoever plays on the left flank, has to take on Chambers. He come to this game shaky as feck after his last performance. Young or Di Maria should be able to do some damage there.

Based on Van Gaal PC, I would prefer this first 11

    --------------------------------Carrick------------------------------------------

Doesn't seem likely, we've typically started slowly, ramped up after HT (especially kicking into the Norf Bank) and stormed on in the last 20.

If you want to win this one, you need to give Arsenal the opening goal. We come back from behind, but we can't hold on to a lead. Ridiculous stuff.

Thought we'd be fine against Alexis on either flank with Rafael and Shaw but now Rafael is out we're fecked.

McNair has been good whenever he played this season.
I agree with you, without any doubt, but what I want to say is .. against Welbeck and Alexis, two really fast players? .. think he is not ready yet for that challenge.

He has come up against top players this season and dealt well. Not playing him because of an opponent makes no sense now.

Top players? he played 4 games and against all easy opponents .. just man city (the only side with top players) .. can't say he is guilty for the goal of Aguero but for sure he was not on the right place.

I would put him in the first XI next 10 games, the kid offers lot of potential no doubt, I like him more than Smalling and Evans but against a really quick side like Arsenal, lot of transition, movement without ball .. i'm pessimistic.

He will be fine thats what everyone was saying about him not being able to manage lakkuku, he still hasnt released him from his backpocket. Mcnair is intelligent and i dont doubt his abilities.

He was excellent against West ham when our captain got himself sent off. Then he dealt with Lukaku well i thought against Everton. Then dealt well in a pretty impossible situation of playing in a 10 man team CB alongside Carrick at the Ethiad.
Obviously its far from ideal but compare those performances to say Phil Jones v West Brom.

You havent watched arsenal enough all that pace rarely comes together to produce anything productive.

This is true but Di Maria will be against Bellerin or Chambers. Whereas Rooney will be up against Monreal at CB.
We shall see i guess, but those match ups are the onl things giving me a glimmer of positivity ahead of the match. As i say would definitely take a draw.
